Looking at my first GA purchase

While you can occaisonally find low grade Timleys on Ebay for around guide, you are more likely to pay 125%-200% of guide value. I haven't been to a con in years, but even then, all the bigger dealers sold Timleys at a premium, 1.5 to 2x guide being the norm. The only way you ever got a deal, was from a smaller dealer who might want to make up for a slow day, and even then you were probably going to pay guide or close to it. Take a look at anyone's catalog, they will probably have at least 20 GA DCs for every Timely in stock.

 

As with many GA books, sometimes the best deals in relation to guide are for 5.5 - 7.0 copies, too pricey for many collectors, and not high grade enough for a lot of the rest.
