The irony is that Cal's top ranked set doesn't have an IMSM #1 listed.

:shy:

On to the LIST you go!!!! :preach:

BLOCKED.POOF!

Why block me?

I didn't. Inside joke. ;)

Sure I do. Like your inappropriate PMing me to stop registering comics.

Unsolicited.

I agree with Cal on this one.

Well we haven't seen the PM, in order to determine if the content was inappropriate.

Absent objectionable or improper content, a PM is the perfect place to let someone know they are doing something that may be objectionable to forumites.

Isn't the best place for that information, in a PM, as opposed to in public?

And I ask again, did you click the link PiP posted to the registry page in question?

Unless the PM is filled with expletives and beaver shots I think a PM was warranted by what I saw.

We are talking about this, right?

From my understanding, PiP complained to Cal about the number of sets that contain just one book.

http://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/SetTypeDetail.aspx?SetTypeID=282

Yes....62 of the 100 shown sets are CAL's...almost all of them with one book in them..the same title, issue and number.

I don't see the problem.

Who the hell is PiP to tell Cal not to register sets?

Playing devils advocate, what if I told you not to register any Avengers or X-Men books?

Well I don't register anything. I don't see the point.

However, this place has always been about respecting the "common area" for everyone's benefit.

We wouldn't tolerate CAL having 62 different sales threads, each one selling a different copy of the same book.

We wouldn't tolerate 62 individual WTB threads, each looking for the same book.

Why? Because it's not respectful of other folks who could do something similar but are respectful enough to make room for everyone to play in the sandbox, not just for them to make 62 identical sand castles and push everyone else out.

So I don't have a problem with someone trying to express that feeling via PM. I also don't have a problem with CAL ignoring that PM. Everyone can choose to act in whatever way they feel proper. The forum and the mods will let them know soon enough if they are too far outside the acceptable.

I certainly respect someone expressing their displeasure via PM than if they would have started a thread to bash him in CG about it, which we have seen before. At least he tried to rectify the issue privately.

Nice spin, but I am not buying it.

It is INAPPROPRIATE ETIQUETTE if nothing else for a total stranger to PM another Forumite and TELL someone what to do re: what this Forum is supposedly about: comic books.

It had that "creepy" sneaky feel to it

CAL who does not like being told what to do...

If the PM only had 4 words it probably wasn't as diplomatic or respectful as it should have been. Also it should have been a request and not a command.

However, you have a choice to either stand on ceremony that you were contacted incorrectly and not in a way you'd prefer and use that ceremony to not notice the potential issue with taking up that much real estate with ostensibly the same book.

OR

You could realize that calm, rational, respectful people on this board that did not contact you may (and do) see a problem with the manner in which all those books are registered and that it may be negatively impacting other people, who have the same right to the registry as you do, in their enjoyment of the registry.

you lost me with your " same right to the registry". Now I guess you are going to tell me what the CGC registry's rules are???

CAL can't stay much longer...working on a much BIGGER project...

Like I said, choose to make it all about you and just about what you want, or you could put yourself in the shoes of others on that registry page who now have a harder time finding and enjoying their sets because of the excess overflow you've created.

It seems you've made that choice.

Some people play well with others and try to make it a fun place for everyone and others, well, don't.

If you need a RULE to tell you when to be respectful or deferential to those around you, and when it's best to share, then the problem extends far beyond any set of forum rules could ever hope to fix. Respect is usually returned in kind, but I am sure standing on ceremony has it's own benefits, right?

If the top brass at the Collector's society ever saw what goes done here I guarantee my entire net worth something would be done.
Can we lower the stakes and discuss terms? I am willing to wager that "top brass" at CGC are as aware of these boards as they care to be. Therefore, whatever you seek to bring to their attention will be met with copious indifference.

Your "spin" is incorrect, and out of gas right here.

Your spin has run out of gas here.

Ignore the point all you want. Call it spin. It doesn't make the claim any less on point.

Did you ever wonder where those rules came from about not having too many threads, not monopolizing too many threads or too much space at the same time? They came from someone pushing beyond the limits of common courtesy for their own selfish ends.

Maybe they'll name the registry carpet bombing rule after you.

Ah Immortality.

For a guy that wants to start his own forum so that things are civil and respectful you certainly have a hard time figuring out (admitting) when you are doing something that's stepping on a whole bunch of toes at the same time.

CAL who does not like being told what to do...

Yeah, we've noticed that. But you do seem to like telling others what to do, don't you?

Absolutely.

Some lead, some follow, others get the hades out of the way. I make sure everyone knows which shoes I wear...

You have hit the Cal nail on the head. On these boards(and via PM) Cal has never been able to have a rational discussion that involves different perspectives or opinions, it's either Cal's way or the highway(or list in this case).

Don't get me wrong, it makes excellent entertainment.

weren't you the one who got called out by some "selling problem"? Why don't you go back to that...

It sure would be nice to log on here and not get put down, ridiculed, flamed, and not harassed.

You bring it on yourself :baiting:

Sure I do. Like your inappropriate PMing me to stop registering comics.

Unsolicited.

But you and your kind will find a way to blame me for that.

CAL awaits...

My kind ?? What is that ? Plebe, your majesty ?

Loudmouth foreigners.
