As best as I can remember, this was the first comic I have that

contained a SUPERBOY story.

 

According to this story, Clark (Specs) Kent went to Metropolis High School...

when did it change to Smallville?

Marty,

 

the Wikipedia pegs that to Superboy # 2. It's the first mention of Smallville and it actually makes the cover - Superboy # 2 @ GCD

 

So, it took a while from More Fun 101 back in late 1944 for Smallville to emerge in Mid 1949. Your Superman issue in mid-47 is smack-dab in the middle of the formative period.

I have a few which range from 22 to 95 but All American 22 is missing most of the interior.

In ALL STAR #24...the first one in my collection, it lists HAWKMAN as

Chairman of the Justice Society of America...was there a different Chairman

before him?

The Flash used to be but stepped down quickly (circa issue # 6?). I thought that they essentially stepped down as fast as they got their own series, no?

So, after reduced to sharing cover honors with Doiby and before eventually losing the cover spot of his own mag to a dog, GL is upstaged by an anthropomorphised taxi cab?

Great cover and a great story One of the few times that Barks's editors asked him to make changes to a submitted story. The original opening was considered to be too scary.

I always enjoyed finding new titles with new characters mixed in

with all the regular comics on the newsstand and was sometimes

surprised when an old title all of a sudden appeared with a new

bunch of characters...like COMIC CAVALCADE, instead of my

15 cents worth of GREEN LANTERN, FLASH and WONDER

WOMAN...I had The FOX and The CROW, The DODO and The

FROG...NUTSY SQUIRREL and others.
