It's not the end of the world, but it's not desirable. The tanning is a sign that the cheap paper Warren used is in the process of self-destruction.

I would suggest getting micro-chamber paper and putting it between the first page and cover, last page and cover, and in the center of the magazines. Then put each magazine on a Gerber acid free Fullback Board and seal it up in a Mylite2 magazine size sleeve.

The sealed Mylite2 sleeve will last forever and protect the mag from outside forces of destruction. However, without the micro-chamber paper placed the way I described the paper will continue to self-destruct in its sealed tomb of Mylar. Micro-chamber paper absorbs the microscopic acids and self-destructive elements produced by the paper and will stop or severely slow down the self-destruction process.

I hope this helps.

Below are photos of the reason that I'm selling the FM #4 in my collection. As nice as it is, I have never seen a copy of FM #4 in the condition of the one that I just accidentally picked up a few days ago.

If anyone is interested in my now secondary copy of FM #4 go to the following link:

Hi! I'm trying to find some information about the magazines we just received from a family member. I have some pics here:

We actually have a complete set of the first 29 issues and then the yearbooks from 1962 through 1972 with the exception of 1963 (it might be around somewhere).

There are three that are in poorer condition (#6 is the worst and can be seen at the link above). The rest are pretty much consistent with the pics above. The family member was a smoker, but they were always stored in the plastic sleeves with a white backer board. They just smell kind of old. :)

Kind of cool! I have NO idea what the grade of quality they would be. I CAREFULLY took them out to photograph a few.

Bump for love.

I'm also bumping it because I'm on the lookout for a copy of Famous Monsters 59 - classic Barnabas Collins cover by Basil Gogos. Would love a copy in the 7.5 - 8.0 range, although higher is always better. Raw is preferred. :cloud9:
