yup. these boards are a moment in time. if they fail, they fail. As much as I enjoy it here, would I mind terribly gettinh a few hours back every day??? But expecting the boards to collapse is as likely as expecting the greta crash....

 

Greta crashed a long time ago. Although she was hot in her time. Yowzah. Great, now I sound like pov.

i know what you are saying about more discussions a year ago. But we have actually covered so many topica in that time, that really, we are running up against the wall. All the easy questions have been asked, argued and discussed. I got here during the second or tgird big Bronze Age debate. It was alreday old news to many of you. And I received some weary "that again?" posts directing me to long threads on the subject.

 

Well, much of what we talk about now is current comic events...and guess what, its turning out to be a pretty thin subject!

You have been here longer than I have, that is true. In the time I have read the boards. I too read almost every single posting that ever goes on, in every forum. So I too feel qualified to say that the state of the boards is more different than it was a year ago. Again, I don't know about prior to this because I wasn't here.

 

OK, DL, I certainly can accept what you are saying. Maybe it is an individual thing? confused-smiley-013.gif I don;t know. I just know I don't get so heated up or concerned about a lot of the obvious tripe that goes on here. Maybe that is it. I sometimes DO post incredibly contrary things - I remember equating one here to the "Before" Poster Boy for Viagra. Was in the midst of a knock-down/drag out.

 

I guess, bottom line, is that we all have our own tolerance limits (and when I say "tolerance" I am not talking about that Politically Correct concept of "tolerance" but just plain old "how much can I put up with?" tolerance.

 

Bottom line I honestly would not want to see ANY of the folks here leave - even the ones I wrangle with the most - because even in the midst of the wrangling they are posting good info elsewhere.

 

As regards I just wonder how the lurkers and newbies perceive the boards. , I pray they have the insight to see all that is here! thumbsup2.gifhi.gif

This is probably one the better discussions today. Both you and aman raise some valid points. I really enjoy the boards as they are. I would never put somebody on ignore, that doesn't really solve anything. I can understand how the old guys have beaten the horse regarding certain subjects, but the new guys have never been involved in these discussions. Like you said aman, when they are talked about, they are met with ridicule and scorn for talking about a dead subject.

 

Good luck to the newbie who says he enjoys collecting modern books and Daredevil is one of his favorite movies. There was one newbie, can't remember his name, but he was the type I just described. Needless to say he doesn't post on here anymore. He may lurk, but he was run out of the boards.

yeah, i guess i have to agree that its not as innocent and virginal anymore here...goes with the territory...?

 

I think it's an evolution of the boards. Kinda like Darwin or Apocalypse would have said, survival of the fittest. The thicker skinned people will stay, the thinner skinned will fade away.

 

The question becomes will there be enough fodder for the veterans or will there be enough veterans to justify staying?

Daredevil is one of his favorite movies

 

While I did not say it was one of my favorite movies (implying all genres) I DID say I thought it was one of the better comic book movies. Got agreed with by some and roundly thrashed by others. BUT - it certainly didn't send me scurrying!

 

My hopes for the lurkers and "newbies" (who are only "newbies" HERE - we may well be "newbies" on other places THEY inhabit) - my hopes are that they will read things, appreciate the good, understand the bad, weigh the two and make a decision. It is the best one can expect and the best one can do. thumbsup2.gif
