Las Vegas show this fall?

10 posts in this topic

Have there been any announcements about this show? Last years was a bit of a disaster, but I thought they had made a two year commitment.

I'll be booking my fall trips to LV soon and would like to co-ordinate to be there for the show.

We would like to thank last year’s supporters of the first annual Las Vegas Comic Con at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Last year was the first show in Las Vegas to bring together many industry professionals in a back-to-back public tradeshow setting with Diamond Comic Distributors, one of the prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

Many people have been asking about plans for the 2004 Las Vegas Comic Con. The Las Vegas Comic Con Staff as well as the Comic Con Advisory Council had some difficult decisions to make in order to make this year’s show a success.

The 2004 Las Vegas Comic Con is reshaping its format to better benefit everyone. This includes a change of show content, improved programming in one area, refocusing our target audience, and improving our marketing for attendees. This kind of restructuring will make way for more inexpensive exhibitor space, lower prices for attendees, provide for easy-to-access programming and more.

The new show may be called the Las Vegas Collector Con and will encompass comics, toys, cards, art, the Las Vegas Invitational Coin Show and the Las Vegas Antique Arms Show.

Please stay tuned for the changes to our programming at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

If you were selling then it was not a good show. If you were buying (me) then it was great. Dealers were willing to let books go a great prices just to cover their expenses.

I went to this show last October. I felt embarassed for the organizers. There was no one there. They even had some rock band playing every day at the entrance. A fairly small selection of dealers for what was supposed to be a big 3-day show. In my opinion Vegas is a great location for a comic convention, but apparently it has a history of being a poor location for such a show. confused-smiley-013.gif I was able to pick up some nice books, but saw just about everything the first day, then it was just visiting the same dealers over and over again. Since this was Vegas, I had a great time outside of the con. Had this been anywhere else I would have been disappointed. At this time I was not yet a board member but still stopped by the CGC booth. I had the chance to meet and chat with Paul Litch. The lone Benchwarmer girl there (Mary Riley) even looked bored and didn't get much attention. I did like the naked girl in the black paint though. Literally wearing nothing but a g-string and black paint and working one of the booths.------Sid

I work for Mandalay and attended the Coin Show in conjunction with the Antique Arms Show held there. It was a decent event but not very large as coin shows of this sort and in Vegas should have produced. The fact that there was a $5 entrance fee ($10 this year) may have been detrimental to the number of browsers when I was there.

It is still scheduled for Mandalay again this year on the last weekend of October. As far as I know, comic con will not be present.

this thread well illustrates why their first try was a bomb They are doing it again (nobody seesm to know) Halloween weekend but its coins, stamps, comics etc Whatever you want to sell they will be more than happy to overcharge you for a space and provide zero advertising to get anyone there I think their old website has a link to the new page but I may be wrong I think I did see a small ad for it in the CBG
