Was wondering if books like Conan 1 & 3 and GL/GA #76 were exceptions to the CI law?

It's interesting that you brought those two issues up. During the 80's, the Adams GL run actually dropped in value, and I could quote numerous accounts of Conan #1 and "will this book ever be worth anything" and "I've still got two sealed cases of this book".

Then later on in the late-80's and early-90's, it took off (as did things like a $20 FF 48 and $10 ASM 50, among a zillion others) when the specs came to town.

Yeah, I remember the relative drought on these books in the 80's. But before and after, they've held pretty good value, yes? My question was really did these books have that initial characteristic spike 'way back in late 1970 we've been talking about? Seems I remember reading there was a particular run on Conan 3 (perhaps artificially induced?)

Cheers,

Z.

Conan 3 was supposed to have been "short distributed", much like Silver Surfer 4 and Howard the Duck 1. The rumor has always been that dealers bought them up at the warehouses - I have no idea.

Does anybody have a bunch of Overstreets (Greggy?!?) where we could check the prices on a bunch of books. I don't think I've got years in a row anymore. I'm thinking the prices on:

FF 48 from 1976-1990

Conan 1 from 1976-1990

Green Lantern 76 from 1976-1990

and maybe AF 15? I know it'll be a pain, but I think it'll be a good exercise.

Would say the following b/w low print run books spiked in value, levelled off then started to climb in value again.

Cerebus 1 (late 1977). Value around late 1978 was around $120 right away for fn/VF. Most copies damaged at printers.

TMNT 1 (1984). Think CVM had it priced around $250-300 for nm during the b/w explosion phase. Now eBay nm price realized is around $1,000 2 weeks ago.
