Sarg
Funny, Bill Gaines said that they changed the title of "Crypt of Terror" to "Tales From the Crypt," because distributors objected to the word "Terror" in a comic book title. Perhaps he meant only his distributor? Independent News clearly had no problem with the word "Terror."

originalisbest
Thanks, funnybooks1969! It does have great color, despite my lousy-quality photo. I've had it for 13 years now, so, not a recent pickup really. But I think this thread has morphed into everyone posting whatever precodes they'd like to show, without too much attention paid to whether they're a super-recent purchase. Sarg, I'm not sure if this is the exact answer to your question, but "Crypt of Terror" really did emphasize TERROR in its masthead, so maybe the much smaller "terror" down the spine was considered acceptable by comparison. "CRYPT" getting the emphasis still seems pretty scary to me! Reminds me of the unique example of "Crime Suspenstories" becoming "Weird Suspenstories" for Canada reprints only, on the three issues they made. Really interesting and rare items, all due to Canada law having an issue with "Crime" in the titles of books at that time. I believe board member eccomic has all three? They've all been seen on the boards before, and a search may turn them up.
