Traded it... to an older, savvier collector...

How is that even possible?

I like like these two end of the run issues a lot. I rarely see them anymore.

23 is an excellent read.  I bought a copy in 1957 for I think 50 cents.  Lost it along the way, but bought another when I got back into collecting.  22 frankly not so much.  Prolly watered down because of the approaching code.

I got to nominate this one as the best issue in the run. Used in the Senate hearings. Skeleton electric chair cover.

This issue is just packed with gore. Every story has sick panels.

And to top it off, it has this story. A direct steal of “It ain’t the meat, It’s the Humanity” from Haunt of Fear.

As close to an EC as they come.

I have to agree.

MA is probably the gold standard with PCH story wise in my book.

Whilst I love PCH to the core , let's face it, a lot of the books fall way short in terms  of stories and we end up loving them for the covers alone. MA delivers on the stories and interior art as well as in this case, the cover.

Just great books with no respect for the sensibilities of kids of the time.

Hard core PCH.

Actually, Mysterious Adventures and Dark Mysteries are sisters, like TFTC, Vault, and Haunt are with EC, and Fight Against Crime like Crime SS.  Story did deliver the gore, with a number of EC swipes.
