When I went there, it was to their second address. There was another book store a ways west on Hollywood Blvd where I found a few more PCH books. Having been in the service from '66 to '69, then carousing around bars, getting married, and then a house, I didn't get back into collecting until about '72. I think Comic Buyers Guide was about the only source back then. I do remember buying this from a guy in the valley for 4 bucks around '80 or so. I too have a copy that I've been wanting to upgrade, but don't know if that'll ever happen. Congrats on that group; I see one issue I don't have. OK @fifties you inspired me to dig out my whole run for a re-read. This IS a good one. Creepy and gory the way these books should be. Popular Post Robot Man
But I have to disagree with best issue in the run. This is a solid contender. Pop is a drunk and forgets to pick up his kid from school and he is run over and killed. Mom had enough with his boozing… bounty_coder, Mr. Lady Luck, fifties and 5 others
Popular Post Robot Man
I got to nominate this one as the best issue in the run. Used in the Senate hearings. Skeleton electric chair cover. This issue is just packed with gore. Every story has sick panels. And to top it off, it has this story. A direct steal of “It ain’t the meat, It’s the Humanity” from Haunt of Fear. As close to an EC as they come. fifties
I forgot about issue 18; I'd say 3 good stories, vs 4 in 12. Here's my favorite splash from it. Larryw7, Point Five and Raze
Point Five
Great stuff! I have MA #12 and #18, but still need a #20. Sold a nice copy years ago and never managed to replace it.

Robot Man
I got my first issue on my honeymoon (MANY moons ago) in a little shop in San Francisco. I even include the two post code issues in my run just because there are only two and I probably lucked into them.

Prolly watered down because of the approaching code. Edited January 3, 2022 by fifties Larryw7

Whilst I love PCH to the core , let's face it, a lot of the books fall way short in terms of stories and we end up loving them for the covers alone. MA delivers on the stories and interior art as well as in this case, the cover. Just great books with no respect for the sensibilities of kids of the time. Hard core PCH. Actually, Mysterious Adventures and Dark Mysteries are sisters, like TFTC, Vault, and Haunt are with EC, and Fight Against Crime like Crime SS. Story did deliver the gore, with a number of EC swipes.
