I believe contacting them about it will only lead to further frustration for you and the end result is that they'll point to their disclaimer. It's been almost 2 years since you bought the comic, you paid someone to perform an appearance altering procedure to the comic and have it certified, so you've put further money into the comic. What would/could you possibly expect them to do for you to make you feel ... whole? It would benefit you to ask yourself that question BEFORE contacting them, if you do, so if by chance they ask what you want them to do about it, you'd have some idea what would satisfy you. Understand, my main reason for saying I'd "move on" is to minimize frustration, not to let someone "get away with something." Once I read their disclaimers I felt it would be a waste of time and energy to contact them. Given that I don't have an uber high grade the dollars involved are pretty minimal also. Thanks, but actually, I've had most of these for a while now. Our own @bc usually starts a monthly salute at the beginning of each month here in the PHM thread, but I had noticed that he hadn't yet, so I just got the ball rolling in case he was preoccupied. I actually DO look forward to seeing it at the beginning of each month!!! It's a big bunch of Monstery awesomeness that usually fills a few pages!!! I'm missing quite a few in my collection, so it's fun to see everyone else's copies!!! Tip of the hat to bc for starting the tradition!!! I picked up the Masterworks volume & it covers the Groot issue to boot. bc, Frisco Larson and Jasonmorris1000000

I have what I believe to be every Timely edition they've reprinted "so far" which is much more a necessity due to me having very few raw Timelys in my collection. I prefer the vintage paper texture and original coloring, but the Masterworks are awesome for, like you said, taking on a plane or sitting outside on a nice day. frozentundraguy and bc

This was actually a pretty common practice between the US and foreign editions. Think I read a blog post by Dr. Michael J. Vassallo that refers to this as "Burgosation" : http://timely-atlas-comics.blogspot.com/2016/10/atlas-errata-cover-alterations-and.html "According to all accounts, Carl Burgos was the unofficial cover editor of the 1950's Atlas line. Several months ago (here) I showed how Burgos had a hand in tinkering with an inordinate amount of these covers, a process I termed "Burgosation". This often went beyond mere inking as many/most of these covers were already inked by their original artists before Carl Burgos stepped in. Comic book production as it existed will frequently have artists adding to covers by others, and Atlas did this frequently..... Maneely with Colletta, Severin with Maneely, Colletta with Williamson, Brodsky with Burgos, Burgos with "everyone" .... the list goes on and on. Some of the tinkering could have been necessitated due to comics-code reasons, but frequently it looks like there was no reason at all other than obsessive compulsiveness. The end result are some weird mash-ups and a lot of fun for latter day art spotters to test their abilities. But multiple hands on published Atlas covers is "not" what I'm talking about here. Now, by virtue of the easy online access to foreign reprints of Atlas comics, reprints (as I mentioned above) many of us never realized even existed all the years we collected Atlas titles, the remarkable discovery has begun of the existence of earlier, unaltered or un-Burgosized versions of many of these Atlas covers. These early renditions were often statted before being altered and later used by foreign publishers in countries where code restrictions were non-existant. These publishers included L. Miller & Son and Alan Class of the United Kingdom, and Transworld Features Syndicate, Inc. (La Prensa) in Mexico." KirbyJack
Weird what the 1950's mindset found comforting. "This comic is safe for my children because he's white and wearing a suit." bc
