Just back from CGC!  First 9.8 copy of this printing (a lot of work!).  The third printing in the hidden picture was the first copy of that printing graded.

Only one more to go... please take a look at my set and my WTB post.  Would appreciate any assistance finding Adventures of Superman 499 third printing in 9.8 (and am willing to pay!).  Take care!

Hello, I have these from your list in 9.8:

683 2nd

684 2nd

JLA 69 3rd

MOS 17 1st

MOS 18 4th & 5th

Not selling though...will ONLY trade for Adventures of Superman 499 3rd print 9.8  I need that book more than I need a few hundred bucks right now  and they bring me joy :headbang:

P.S. I also have many other ‘extra’ HTF 9.8’s from the Funeral and Reign storylines but again, will only trade for the one 9.8 I am missing.

P.P.S. If I ever find my last book then I might consider selling off some extras.

I think that the Adv of SM 499 3rd print (DCU logo variant) will be tough to find.  I think mine might be close to 9.8, because I've traded up over the years.  But I even had a few of those in unopened packs in the past, and they were slightly dinged on the spine.  Those black funeral issues are hard enough to find in any condition, let alone in 9.8.   You guys have set a tough goal for yourselves and I admire you for it.

I appreciate the words of wisdom!  I know it’s a long shot but I’m hoping to shake one loose from somewhere.  I passed on the lone 9.8 about a year and a half ago because I still needed a lot of other books at the time... still kicking myself for that but figure things happen for a reason. Maybe if I had bought that I wouldn’t have worked so hard on getting the others, who knows.

If you ever wanna let yours go give me a shout.  (Hey, worth a try :))

Take care!

Yes, this is a tough goal! I too passed on the lone Adventures of Superman #499 3rd printing in 9.8 when it was first offered. I also lost the auction by $10 for the Superman: The Man of Steel #20 DCU 2nd printing in 9.8 last fall. It was such a bittersweet loss because the auction realized $800, which is better in my savings, but $10!

I’ve also started selling off my Batman multiple prints in 9.8 from Knightfall to focus more on these Death and Return of Superman pieces.

How much did that 9.8 Adv of SM 499 3rd printing sell for?

This was a screenshot of sold filtered by highest sold, which would place it just under $825.25

So this weekend and beginning of this week I have been preparing a submission.  I decided I would open two of my extra Death/ Funeral of Superman sets and see the books in them and possibly add some to this submission.. well out of all of them only 2 books are worth sending. Even those need a press. They really did just fill these with excess. So far I have opened four of these packs and there is absolutely no consistency to them . This time one contained two different AC 685 ( 2nd & 3rd) and no JL 70. Here are the two packs as well as images of what came from these two packs. First two are both packs together.  Then it is pictures of front/back of the pack followed by its contents.  Then the next pack and its contents.

Wow!!  Have been lucky enough to open a few of these as well... never got a MOS 20 2nd print, or Superman 77 3rd out of any of them though!  That’s pretty cool!

I do agree that the condition of the books inside has generally been disappointing... dinged corners and foxing in my case.

Good luck with the submission!

I have had a couple contain the Superman 77 third and Man of Steel 20 second, but yes I do agree they have, for the most part, been disappointing.  Thank you. At some point I plan on either making a post, thread, or journal to show what I am sending in this sub and all future subs. Some before and after.. Thank you.
