PGM Thor #163

Trying to grade more accurately these which are in my collection.

 

Assume the back cover is better, let’s say in the FVF area, how would you grade this one? It has:

 

– URC small spine split (which also goes through a pair of pages) and crease;

– four spine ticks (one is more marked, around Thor’s upper arm);

– mild thumb crease on the right side of the cover (see Sif helmet), but goes through all book;

– minor creasing on the LRC;

 

Book lies otherwise very flat and nice, and has good gloss and colors.

7.0, considering crease ULFC, splits and BC as described.

Sounds too much, with that split and the thumb crease I was doubting it could be more than 6.0.

I was imagining the spine split to bet just the small length near the top (1/8" ?).

 

Maybe not, could still be 6.5...positive attributes hard to ignore.

7.0 - too many positive attributes I think - unless the back cover really stinks

Thanks. Spine split is small, as you see in the picture, although it brought the crease (also visible in the picture). Back cover is nice.

 

I have labeled it a F or F+, I bought this one as a VG.

I pegged this one at 6.0 to 6.5. I have one concern and that is what appears to be water staining on the lower page about 3/4" to 1" from the bottom of the front cover? Is that a water stain or is it part of the book. I am not familiar with this cover.

I don’t think it’s water stain, I would have noticed it. I’ll check it out, anyway I’ve kept it at 6.0 max. (thumbs u

It's definitely a water stain. The question is: does it affect any interior pages? Is it present anywhere on the back cover?

 

My grade: 4.0 to 4.5
