PGM BEWARE #10

26 posts in this topic

I need to sell a few of my books on eBay, and this is one of them. (I'm so new to the board I'm not sure if it's legit to ask for opinions on books you mean to sell, so someone tell me if that's not okay.) Anyway, here's Beware #10. There is a ½" tear to open edge front cover (invisible in the rocks a half inch above Frazetta's signature), and a ¼" separation bottom spine. Fingerprint smudging on most pages. (Someone read this one with ink on his fingers.) Small tears at staples. Pages supple. Thanks!

I found a CGC 5.0 copy for comparison sake. I thought blackwalnut's copy was just as good if not maybe a little nicer. Maybe I was wrong? :o

Compare the stress lines down the spine and the top edge.

4.0

Too many reading stress lines down that spine and tears and creases across the top edge. Looks like a small chip out of the cover on the spine too. Still looks pretty good.

+1

With off white pages nice

+1. I agree with 4.0

Could you let me know when you list it?

Dennis

Yes I did that and both books are very similar in that respect. When you compare the tops of the two books the CGC copy is less stressed (shall we say) however the interior of the front cover has staining and damage on the CGC copy but nothing as severe on blackwalnut's copy. I figured it was a trade off for a 5.0? (shrug)

Wow, thanks for all the responses! Timern, you're a pal. Great example to compare.

Dennis, I'll include this in my listings on Sunday night, so the auction will end on Sunday, November 24. If no one bids, I'll relist within a week or two. Guys, I want to throw one more "problem book" at you tomorrow that I'd like to list on Sunday.

BTW I just noticed "Hanging Panels" on the CGC label and had to look that one up... Googled it and found it on this same board! I thought it referred to some flaw, but it means there's a story about HANGING. And there sure is – one of the creepiest entries in pre-code, if you ask me. So I guess that's a selling point! (I knew EYE DAMAGE was a selling point, but HANGING is a new one on me. One more reason to thank you, timern!)

Where do you see staining on the cover?

Its most apparent on the red in her dress (right on her butt) and extends into the darker area slightly. There is pen mark in the 'B' and impact damage near the torch flame. I equated this to the edge wear on blackwalnuts copy. (shrug)

Looks like a 4.0 to me, but if you called it a 4.5 I doubt anyone would complain.

If you have a price in mind you should sell it on the boards instead of ebay and save the fees. It's a popular enough book it should sell pretty easily.

Agreed.

I kinda hate Ebay and would definitely prefer a board purchase. PM already sent.
