Umm..oops!

I really don't know....at first I thought the owner must have removed the book, and scanned it together with the holder, but the horizontal line at the bottom of the holder seems to be going across the book (as it would were it inside the holder). Truely weird.

how does something like that happen?

That's the old style CGC case, back before they came up with the inner well--the type that's a lot like a really loose Mylar. They used that back in 2000. The "sonic sealing" they use around the edges isn't a permanent, tight seal and can be penetrated with not a great deal of force.

The book isn't necessarily damaged.

Maybe not, but a chance to be taken by someone.

Question,,,,,if the book IS damaged, and you send it back in for a reholder, would it get the same grade because the case has not been cracked even if the book has obvious damage????

No, they lower the grade just for a reholder if they notice intra-slab damage. Someone here was screaming bloody murder about that a year or two ago.

Go ahead...

I *THINK* it was Bonds25 who resubbed something for a re-holder and ended up getting something knocked off the grade, but I could be wrong. I also think there might be a statement from CGC in the "Ask CGC" forum about this...I seem to remember someone with a green name commenting on this somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

My memory severed me well with regards to bonds25:

I couldn't find a comment from any CGC people, but I could swear I saw one somewhere...

I'm sure there are a great many books out there that would receive the same grade as they currently hold. The SCS is just too common an occurance.

I agree I noticed one of Greggy's DC 100 pagers in 9.6 appeared to have some slab damage.
