cousin itt
A much worse incomplete copy covered in ink (the one that might be Jerry Robinson's) went for $1350 recently so the current price is still reasonable. What I don't know is if this copy is complete or not.
Illustrious
A fellow boardie just sold a brittle 2.0 purple label for $3,500 as well: http://item.ebay.co.uk/231341256906?item_hash4=89e3dfd9&LH_Complete=1&LH_BIN=1&LH_BO=1&_ipg=200&_pgn=1&rc=nt&rmvSB=true
cousin itt
That just says "ended". Are you sure it actually sold for that price?
Illustrious
That just says "ended". Are you sure it actually sold for that price? Yep, it's recorded on GPA too. The link I provided above was eBay UK, which was the only way to see the real price. Here's the regular American listing that says "SOLD": http://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-Comics-3-CGC-2-0-Restored-Key-Red-Skull-1st-Stan-Lee-Work-/231341256906?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35dd0370ca
cousin itt
That's weird... on the US site that exact same item says $4000 and it says "sold": http://www.ebay.com/itm/231341256906?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D231341256906%26_rdc%3D1 (Edit... I see you already mentioned that...) Edited June 26, 2015 by cousin itt

Looks like it's missing more than that, the seller just updated the listing to say there are multiple missing pages from the "Humpback" story. cousin itt
Yeah, just 4 pages. That's the center wrap. I know because mine is also missing the center wrap.
Primetime
Yep, the seller told me there are only 60 pages so it is missing one wrap and the inner spine is quite brittle. Darn.

jgallo
Why is this book always missing the centerfold. I assume it is a double page spread but more then any other issue it seems to always be incomplete. James G
cousin itt
No, actually it isn't a double-page spread. I think it just always seems to be missing because the ones that are complete aren't for sale.
Illustrious
Pretty strong finish on a poor/incomplete copy on eBay this morning....I had this pegged at $4,000 max but somebody really wanted it! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-3-May-1941-Stan-Lee-/273131897043?hash=item3f97ee00d3%3Ag%3Aq0AAAOSwWqpau6kz&nma=true&si=KJzSvsPDOXSU0SxFJ76oHYATUlo%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

gino2paulus2
It was over 10K at one point when I saw it I believe there were some retractions not sure how to see that though. I think it helped that it was a 100% to charity sale. Still an outstanding result for an incomplete copy no matter which way you spin it. 1950's war comics

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, with Cap #1 moving further and further out of reach for normal collectors, Cap #3 will keep inching up as the second most valuable/desirable Cap book. BTW Ben, nice sig line photo. Primetime
