...to me, the iconic lord of darkness was Tim Curry in 1985's "Legend". DeNiro did a decent take in "Angel Heart" also.

Angel Heart is absolutely underrated (in my distant memory anyways, I do recall the scandalous sex scenes and a possible X rating, gonna give it a fresh watch). 

I'm such a Cruise hater, I don't think I can try Legend again - the memories are not fond  

Off the top of my head in the way of "deal with the devil movies," I really like Pacino's take in The Devil's Advocate, de Palma's Phantom of the Paradise, and Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick.

A couple of recent "devil" recommends would be Late Night with the Devil (2023) and The Dark and the Wicked (2020). trigger warning for the squeamish

I haven't really dug into Richard Powers' art much but can tell you my likely first exposure, circa 1993.  Sadly, I must have sold or traded this album, and I remember beautiful clear blue vinyl inside.

The band had all sorts of neat retro graphics.  Hopefully they paid Powers an appropriate commission and this isn't high-jacked art...

Stunning.  Another one for the huntlist.  I don't have an ID, but it's a cut above.  It looks like this is an extended version of a novel that appeared in Cosmo in 1939.

Bellah's stories are responsible for some of our greatest westerns - Fort Apache, She Wore a a Yellow Ribbon, and Rio Grande.  He worked on the screenplay for a film that sometimes gets mentioned as *the* greatest western, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

I picked this one up as it fits in with my interest in KS/MO history.  My pops had a second location of his BBQ back in the 80s (he worked construction, my stepmom ran two "fast food" bbqs, defo a novelty in that day) in the Westport area of KC, so I picked this one up right away (2.65 plus shipping for a nice reader, I heart paperbacks).  There's still some night life in Wesport, but it's far from the wild wild west. I'll stick a cover for the Westport Trucker over on the UG thread...

Westport Landing - Homer Hatten (1951.Gold Medal Book 157) cover

Artist unknown.  Looks familiar but not in line with many Gold Medals when I went looking for comparisons).  I don't know the author at all - expected to see some pulp entries but no dice.  I'm not on FB but did find the little bit of info I was able via Vintage Paperback and Book Covers:

Caught a very nice super tight copy of this one with just a bit of chipping and dinging, great colors.

Paperback Steve sees a possibility of Maguire.  I think Bob Schulz or Al Rossi are possibilities, too, as both did work on these early lions (which are totally awesome) with some similar features.

I could find nothing on the author besides this single novel (hardcover release as Hear Not My Steps) and this possible lead of one published in Italy but it might be the same book:

William Ard has many an noir appearance here on the pb thread even though this one looks a bit sleazy, woo!  My wife's like - you're reading harlequins!  

Ard also wrote a number detectives under the name of Bob Kerr, one or two under the name Bob Wills, and later turned West for a long career with the cowboys under the name Jonas Ward.

Nice books   Do women get slapped around in Harlequins?    I don't think I've read an Ard novel where some dame doesn't get a knuckle crack (or at least a backhand). I guess it was a thing in those times
