Dr. Love
Same. That book is the only one I went hard for, it's real real tough to get, Fox or Canadian whatever. I fell far short of the hammer though. Seller had lots of good pics on his listings though, I'll give him that. We could use some of that here on the boards. These days you're lucky if you get a back cover shot. Chaps my azz I must admit. Chief1332, Point Five and comicjack

One of our boardies beat me out on the 8.0 graded copy of this book back in the day, 2013 to be exact. That one hurt, $100 it went for, what was I thinking? Although 9 years ago that was at the top end for a VF Atlas romance. 1953-1954 Atlas romance, Pike, Hartley, and Colletta, the most incredible run. Rip
I always felt like this was a good companion piece to Lovers 49. While its Colletta, sure looks a lot like Jay Scott Pike's covers. pmpknface, Dr. Love, damonwad and 1 other

Hey Rip, is it possible you could shoot some pics of the Colletta story inside this book and post them here? Over the years I've been coming around to think that the best interior work done for romance was Colletta in 1954. Baker's covers were sublime, but he had a huge workload for St. John and couldn't put a ton of effort into the inside pages. Plus the thing about St. John is the stories were less about the art and more a vehicle for a distinctive editorial point of view envisioned by Archer St. John and carried out with scripts written by Dana Dutch. I've never owned a copy of this book, and that's the only way to see the story - no digital uploads out there for any Marvel work. It would be a real service to this thread. And any of the other books you posted recently, if possible, art by Colletta, those would be great too! Rip
I haven't received this one yet in the mail yet. (I quickly popped the BIN this morning when I saw it) but I do have a pic of the first interior page which looks fantastic. I've been a real fan of Atlas romance. There's really a lot of undiscovered gems here. The interior artwork is often top notch with a lot of detail. And the price really feels like a deal in comparison. Not to mention they can be quite difficult to track down in most any shape. Even Patsy Walker and her various titles had some really knockout Al Hartley covers that were a bit less cartoonish and drawn with a bit more detail. I just love all that detail work going on, from the dog, to the two straws in the soda bottle, to the rolled up blinds. Hartley's "couch covers" are just great. In addition to the Girls' Life 2, there's this Patsy Walker 54. They stuck Al there in the middle of the run, on a trial basis perhaps. I mean Jaffee is good, but he aint no Hartley at the top of his game. Few were - his romance cover work for Atlas in 53-54 was magnificent. Interiors not so much. Apparently that required a totally different skill set. They gave Hartley the Patsy Walker title two years later in '56 starting with #67 and that's all she wrote til the title ran out in '65. I'm not a fan of this later art, to tell you the truth. Except maybe the book below, which I'm crazy about. His romance work was inspired, however, even though he was drawn to teenage and humor stories. At least towards the end of his career, and having become a born again Christian in 1967, he was able to do work near and dear to his heart and faith - in 1972 he helped launch the Spire Christian Comics line. Where he was responsible for, among other books, one which still this day has a cult like status. Though not as much as it used to 20 years ago. A no prize to the first one to post that cover! adamstrange, pmpknface, Rip and 2 others

Yorick
My scanner decided to come alive again. I had picked up a few more AUS books in the last few months. The various sizes of these makes preservation (bagging/boarding) a little more challenging. buttock, Chief1332 and szucchini
