But, for obvious reasons, I think it will be of interest here as an EC-adjacent book, since it's essentially issue 0 of one of the earliest EC titles. "EC Adjacent Books" would be an interesting thread. OtherEric

Popular Post EC ed
A post over on the EC Facebook page reminded me that today, August 12, 2023, is World Elephant Day (the fact that it was a comic book forum that reminded me that today is World Elephant Day makes me think I should re-evaluate my general news consumption habits, but I digress... ), The main point is that it forced me to contemplate what EC comic books have elephant covers. I came up with six of them... The obvious one: Followed by the not-so-obvious ones: HAPPY WORLD ELEPHANT DAY!! I remember him being real hung over or maybe a little buzzed. He looked and smelled horrible. I pulled out my low grade MAD #1 for him to sign. He was the last artist I needed to have all the stories signed. He was impressed that I had done it. He carefully signed Wallace Wood at the bottom his splash. I then pulled out a couple of Avons. He smiled and got a sparkle in his eyes. In a firm hand he signed my books one of which was “Best Wishes Woody”. I thanked him, gathered my books and left on air. Was very sad to learn of his passing shortly thereafter. I had no idea he was so sick. Sarg, OtherEric, goldust40 and 11 others 13

I don't understand the point of posting a picture of someone definitely in the pits. It was well known in the EC world that Wood had had an alcohol problem, so why display a degrading picture of it? Yeah, real sad… I however have learned to separate the professional life vs personal life of those whose work I appreciate as long as they don’t hurt others. Eric Clapton is a perfect example. His professional work is astounding. He has inspired me and touched me deeply. But I totally disagree with his personal views and political views. Wally Wood was a tragedy. But his professional work was second to none. I have loved it ever since I first saw it and found out who he was. His personal life and untimely end was a tragedy and something I just tend to want to forget about. KirbyJack, Telegan and Point Five
