Contest - The King Of Pre-Code Horror

41 posts in this topic

While EC (justifiably) gets the main shine for pre-code horror, 4 publishers published more pre-code horror books than EC. Name those four publishers in order of output, from highest to lowest, and win a fabulous prize!

A VG copy of the pre-code horror Uncanny Tales #28.

Atlas would definitely have to be #1 with Adventures into Terror, Adventures into Weird Worlds and Uncanny Tales to name a few.

#2-4?....hmmm

How about:

2) ACG would have to be a close #2 (Adventures into the Unknown lasted a long time)

3) Harvey

4) Avon

How's that?

I don't even think DC published ANY horror comics, so I know they are right out, and Fawcett and Quality each only had a couple of titles.

My other considerations for 3rd-4th place were/are:

Ace, Comic Media, Farrell, Star, and Superior

Arty's new try did it! He transposed Harvey and Ace! The result?

Atlas (399 issues)

ACG (123 issues)

Ace (98 issues - or 97 as the existence of Hand Of Fate #26 is questionable)

Harvey (96 issues)

Phew!

Arty - PM a mailing address for the book. (FINLAND!!!!!!!!??????? OMG!) grin.gif
