Abandoned Comic Book Store

Let me preface this by saying, I would never intentionally break into or steal property that doesn't belong to me.

Is there any way you can unintentionally break in and steal property?

Well, I would hate to say I would NEVER EVER STEAL someone's property, but for instance the other day I accidentally walked-off with a person's pen when I was writing down what they wanted for lunch.

Technically I stole it, but it was not intentional. :insane:

Have a look at the back door. If there is a new padlock/security then someone is around.

No way in ANY neighbourhood does a 3 year empty shop with possibly major keys not get its back-door forcibly entered.

Nice X-Men (DOFP) relevant copy there too - spot it anyone?

Stuff emailing - I'd be taking days off and personally tracking this owner down and talk face to face.

I guarantee you at least one other boardie is doing so as we speak.

There's also a golden records reprint for the A4.

No way I could imagine someone leaving those original classics amidst tons of modern titles. Seems so out of place.

Could OP take a picture focusing on the titles (A4 and X1)?

It's not the GRR as that doesn't have the number box on it.

I hope you can get in touch with the owners, OP. This is my kind of caper.

Could this be a bankruptcy or seized asset/tax situation? Recently, there was the contents of a comic store auctioned off nearby that I believe the tax authorities had seized as a result of unpaid taxes. The length of time your store has been vacant might be a bit odd for this unless it has been tied up in some sort of legal wrangling.

This site is pretty outdated. My guess is that this store is on here. That store front looks familiar. It seems like I have been in there browsing dollar boxes years ago.

Going through the list, I can't figure out which store it is…

The Collector's Edge? That is all that makes sense… I can't see the store front and it hasn't been verified since 2011…

2 other boardies have figured out the shop already (they didn't post on here). Maybe they'll get further info and will post updates.

I might try the certified letter, but as someone else mentions, if it's under some sort of tax sale lien, then the previous proprietor will never get the letter. If it were going up for sale, I think I'd have seen something in the local papers.

The place will be ransacked before the month is out.

Ugh....that's what I'm afraid of...If I go by there this weekend and the storefront is smashed, I'll just have to call the authorities and give them all your screen names to investigate.

It was a Milestone pen so no big deal...

Someone else mentioned this in reference to another store but are there other tenants nearby that you can chat up about the status of the shop?

Did you Google realtor's name? There may be some type of real estate licensing board where you can find her name and current number ala state bar association for attorneys.

Fun read, good luck.

I think I found her. Looks like she's a licensed real estate agent (~60 y/o).

Contemplating how to approach this so she doesn't think I'm a nut case, which would be pretty true to form.

:gossip: Take a Jedi with you. " you want to give me all the comics in the shop for free "
