Hey, Carbo saw an opportunity and is still running with it all these years later. I was sad to see the church go as well though, it was cozy and cool. I remember being very puzzled the first time I found it, although I knew what I was looking for it was still a shock to see. Then to Penn Plaza Pavilion, a place that seems to suck the soul right out of the event at no fault to Mike or the show runners. It is a weird barren building, even when full.

i miss the church shows, but i suppose penn is easier for people coming in from nj and long island.

That's right, there are many things taken into consideration when selecting a venue. NYC is tough on conventions because of the costs involved in getting a space that is big enough. The Big Apple Convention has a long history with the Penn Plaza Pavilion and a very good working relationship with them. There are certain efficiencies that this relationship allows, and in the venue itself, behind-the-scenes. It is also incredibly convenient for public transportation, being across the street from Penn Station.

The convention is in the Penn Plaza Pavilion, which is the former Sports Authority on the corner of 7th Ave & 33rd St. This is technically not a part of the hotel.

The upstairs venue is part of the Hotel Pennsylvania itself, and is not being used this time. The panel room downstairs is also a part of the hotel, and will be used.

We will, of course, be having the costume contest followed by the big cosplay photo shoots, and after a series of celebrity panels including Prof. William Foster's “Do We Still Have to Be Black,” Comic Book Shark Tank, Zombies Vs. Vampires and How to Break Into Voice Acting presented by VampireFreaks.com, we will be closing the show with a screening of Patrick Devaney's sci-fi horror short film “Aemmorage.”

With barely a week to go, thinks are happening quickly! Watch this space for more updates!

I'll be attending this show so if anyone is interested in anything we have on our website (or maybe something in general), reach out to me via PM. I'm happy to bring items for people to view.

Also, if you're looking to sell, I'm certainly interested in buying!
