New York Comic Con - Sold out?

It's still not like San Diego... yet...

You cannot procrastinate though

If it's "not like San Diego" then what the hell goes on with San Diego? 4-day tickets for NYCC sold out shortly after going on sale, and I clicked to buy 3-day as soon as they went on sale at noon that day, but they were gone when my spot in the queue came up.

I have a feeling NYCC is going to be huge this year. Not only is it a week long even all around the city (not sure why and don't wanna know). I'm going Thursday (got tix two weeks ago) and I think that's the best day to go.

First in and less people. :)

My schedule:

Thursday: 3 until whenever

Friday: Might go the whole day, might go from 3 until whenever.

Saturday: I have a wedding that day, but even if I did not... I avoid Saturday like the plague.

Sunday: I will go to pick up any sketches or shop around for a couple of deals or two.

Saturday's are the worst. I skipped last year and while this year is not an option, I will skip it next year as well. I don't mind crowds. I do mind blatant fire safety violations and not being able to move around like I am in a bar on 2nd Ave on St Patricks Day.

I've avoided Saturday completely at WW Chicago the past two years and I don't intend to show up on any Saturdays going forward. Thursday is my favorite day of a four day con, and the day all my serious money gets spent. Saturday is "look at me" day with a million cosplayers, and I'm happy to stay out of their way.

I mentioned this in 2012. Saturday afternoon is the busiest. I noticed that there weren't any really engaging panels during that time period that would have drawn people into the halls. Instead that overflow was walking the floor. This made for severe overcrowding that got to the point that they were not allowing people back in.

Unknown fact: Do NOT, I repeat do NOT bring your kids on Saturday afternoon unless they have enough sense about them and are big enough to navigate a crowd. I've seen it happen and the Javits security is reluctant to lock the place down for a missing kid. They send people to 'look' for them.

I'm lending my four-day pass to a friend for Saturday.

Debating doing that. I want the voucher back for Sunday and need to trust that the person will throw it through a mail slot. They are not always the most responsible in that regard.

You think they are ever going to do something like a verified ticket where it would be more non-transferable?

It's almost the same now when it comes to buying tickets. I got shut out and ended up buying on the secondary market.

So if you had the whole weekend to go, would the best time to score on books be the first or last day?

I'd assume the first day would be good to find some stealth buys, and the last day to haggle right?

You'll find the best books on Thursday, but you'll pay up for them. Of course, the best books are worth paying up for. The cheaper boxes are also less rifled through.

Sunday is a better day for haggling, but the books there have all been picked over for three full days, so you get to haggle over the scraps.

Check carefully, appears Thursday tickets are still available.

I would be flying in from Europe... I don't think I can justify flying from the old continent only to attend Thursday... :)

There are PLENTY of things to do in NYC besides things having to do with comics.
