As I see it, I can spend a few thousand dollars on run of the mill copies of FF 1-35, or $65 on an omnibus of them and use the money I save to buy higher grade copies of issues 1, 5, 12, 25 ,26, and 28.

Same thing with just about any run. If I could afford VF copies of the whole run, I'd still go with the omni and just upgrade the keys.

Some folks would rather have twenty 3.0 books than one 6.0 book. I get it, but I don't.

There truly are degrees of completist-ness.

 

You can be a completist from every comic to every DC comic to simply one character down to one character from a given era. . .

 

I'm an X-Men completist, but I'm buying keys (overall) and "keys" to characters I like.

By that logic, why bother buying the keys? They're in the omnibus too. If you just want to show off, save your money for the old-man convertible.
