Comics you probably should own but can't bring yourself to pay for?

One book that has confounded me is Watchmen #8 CGC 9.8 Blue Label. I have the entire run absent this one. On average, I have paid about $60 per book. With #1 closer to $100. For some reason, #8 is always over $200 And it rarely comes up on eBay/ComicLink.... There are (78) blue 9.8s on the census.

Been trying to buy high grade raw copies, but they are never worthy of a 9.8.

Posted in the WTB section, but only the chirps of crickets. :frustrated:

1st app of the squid-thingy.

Hi - I am not familiar with squig-thingy lol. I see that the #8 is the "Death" of the original Nite-Owl.

#1 is the "Death" of the Comedian and sells for $200 (but #1's usually sell for more)

#12 is the "Death" of Rorschah and that sells for $70

Fantastic Four 5

I just can't justify the price right now, but I would love to have a Fine or above.

Maybe my fiance will be ok without a honeymoon...

FF52.

It is a gap in my FF run, but I just can't bring myself to pay the current hype inflated prices.

+1 Worse yet, I am an obessive high grade collector, getting this book in 9.0, at the current prices...?!?

I was half kidding. But you don't know the squid thing? You haven't read the series?

If content matters in relation to the price, it's probably due to the Roarschach prison riot scene more than anything.

But the squid thing is integral to the story.

I get the reference. I wonder how many others do as well.

I loved that show. I had some of the trading cards, too. Including the one for that episode.

Detective Comics 411 - how much !?!

+1 This one and Savage Tales #1 are the corner stones to my May 1971 set that I'm trying to build. I just can't shell that kind of money out. I'm hoping to grab a few really nice other books and get them graded and possibly trade for them.

just seen a Detective Comics 411 cgc 3.0 on ebay for $141!

...looks like it's been in someone's back pocket for 40 yrs.
