GARDEN STATE COMIC FEST is proud to announce our new date for 2015!!!

 

After the success of our August show GSCF is proud to announce we will be going bigger and better as promised.

We have moved to a new and bigger location, The Mennen Sports Arena in Beautiful Morristown, NJ.

Our new show floor will be over 25,000 sft. and have over 200 tables and booths of your favorite artists and vendors!!!

 

So stay tuned as more information will be coming shortly.

And a special thanks to all our friends and fans out there. Without your continued support and feedback, we wouldn't be the convention we are today.

Through consistent buying, selling, and trading of collectibles, Metropolis has amassed an inventory of more than 150,000 vintage comics. The company holds four Guinness World Records for all-time high comic and collectibles transactions and was the first to break the million dollar threshold in 2010, a figure it more than doubled in 2011 with the $2.1 million sale of yet another Action Comics #1.

Metropolis proceeded to set the comic world on fire yet again in 2014 with their record-breaking $3.2 million purchase of the only CGC Graded 9.0 first appearance of Superman in Action Comics #1 known to exist with white pages!!

GSCF is proud to welcome Alex Saviuk to Garden State Comic Fest!!

 

Alex is a legend in the comic field and renowned as one of the top SPIDER- MAN artists in history. He has also done work on The FLASH, GREEN LANTERN, WORLDS FINEST, SPIDER-MAN ADVENTURES, The X-FILES and SUPERMAN (just to name a few)!

Alex also has co-created a number of characters over his storied career including Arkiss Chummuck and Malet Dasim of the GREEN LANTERN CORPS (with Bob Toomey),

Currently he pencils the Spider-man Sunday newspaper strip and inks the Dailies while also drawing The PHANTOM as well as THE LEGIONNAIRES FROM SPACE for . Overseas publishers. Alex also has done storyboards for films like THE REAPING, NEVER BACK DOWN, LONELY HEARTS and HOOT as well as TV storyboards for advertising agencies! A transported New Yorker he lives in Florida and enjoys the sunshine all year round!

GSCF is proud to welcome back Ethan Van Sciver to Garden State Comic Fest!!

Ethan is best known for illustrating a number of titles including Green Lantern, Superman, Batman, New X-Men, and The Flash:

Rebirth to name only a few. Ethan and writer Geoff Johns brought Hal Jordan back to the DC Universe as Earth's main Green Lantern officer in the six-issue miniseries Green Lantern: Rebirth. From there Ethan, Johns, Dave Gibbons, and Ivan Reis went on to produce The Sinestro Corps War which introduced The Sinestro Corps.This set the stage for DC’s Blackest Night. Along with Johns, Ethan helped create the other Lantern Corps as well as prominent lanterns like Atrocitus, Saint Walker, and Larfleeze . Ethan has recently worked on DC’s Sensation Comics featuring Wonder Woman with writer Gail Simone. He’s also a top cover artist, contributing covers for BATMAN, FOREVER EVIL, ACTION COMICS, DETECTIVE COMICS, etc, etc. He’s currently leading off the new DC event CONVERGENCE with Dan Jurgens

BelleChere is a self-taught professional costume designer who has been passionately creating and modeling the costumes of her favorite pop culture icons for 10 years. Winner of multiple awards for skill and presentation, the range of her costumes spans comic books, video games, and film. Having earned international recognition, BelleChere loves visiting new places outside her home city of Boston and sharing knowledge of her craft with other fellow geeks! When not dressing up as a superhero (or villain!) she's making costumes for clients - be they cosplayers, drag queens, or for local theater - and playing with her best friend forever, Hunter the beagle.

GSCF is proud to welcome Joe Staton to Garden State Comic Fest. Staton, a legend in the comic world and co-creator of such notable characters as Earth 2’s Huntress and the Green Lanterns Salaak, Arisia, and the toughest GL of all Kilowog to name only a few.

Staton was recruited by DC to work on the revival of the Justice Society of America in All Star Comics and later Adventure Comics. In these titles he illustrated stories including the origin of the JSA in DC Special #29. and the death of the Earth-Two Batman. Staton also illustrated the solo adventures of two female JSA members drawing Power Girl in Showcase and The Huntress. During that time, Staton additionally drew Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, Doom Patrol, and the Metal Men. In 1979, Staton began a two-and-a-half-year run on Green Lantern, during which he co-created the Omega Men with writer Marv Wolfman.

Staton served as art director for First Comics for three years in the 1980s. He returned to DC Comics afterwards for a second run on Green Lantern and with writer Steve Englehart, oversaw the title's name change to Green Lantern Corps. Staton and Englehart also created the DC weekly crossover series Millennium. In addition, Staton illustrated Guy Gardner, The New Guardians and Superman & Bugs Bunny. Staton draws DC's Scooby Doo title for younger readers, as well as the more mature-themed Femme Noir for Ape Entertainment. On January 19, 2011, Tribune Media Services announced that Staton and writer Mike Curtis would replace Locher as the creative team of the Tracy comic strip.

In 1998 Staton received the Eisner Award for World’s Finest: The Superman-Batman Adventure and in 2013, Staton and Curtis were awarded the Harvey Award for Tracy.

GSCF is proud to welcome Charles Paul Wilson III to Garden State Comic Fest

Charles is the illustrator and co-creator of The New York Times Best-Selling Graphic Novel The Stuff of Legend , published by Th3rd World Studios, as well as the illustrator for Joe Hill's graphic novel Wraith for IDW. His art can also be found in the pages and on the covers for publishers BOOM! Studios, Archaia, IDW, Image, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, in the pages of GI Joe, X-Files, and TMNT to name a few. Charles attended The John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art where he was awarded The Norman Mauer Scholarship for his work as a first-year student. In 2010 he was nominated for The Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award for his work on The Stuff of Legend.

GSCF is proud to announce Tom Raney is coming to Garden State Comic Fest this July 25-26th!

Tom Raney gets around. Over the years he's done a large amount of work on the various X-Men titles, revamped Stormwatch with Warren Ellis, the Outsiders with Judd Winick, co-created Threshold with Keith Giffen, and co-created Mutant X. A few notable titles he's worked on include Thor, Avengers Academy, the Hulk, DV8, Warlock and the Infinity Watch and Warlock Chronicles. With Ron Marz he's working on their high fantasy creation Destiny's Rogues. He recently drew Infinite Crisis, Batman-Superman, and Future’s End for DC. Currently he’s focusing on creator owned work.

GSCF is proud to Welcome Greg Hildebrandt to Garden State Comic Fest July 25-26th at Mennen Arena. This is a super rare appearance by the living legend himself.

The sons of a Chevrolet division chief, Greg Hildebrandt and his identical twin brother, Tim, were born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939, Both boys were avid artists and creative thinkers from a young age, and carried their artistic passion with them throughout their childhoods. For years Greg and Tim worked together and apart, receiving international recognition and numerous awards and honors. In 1975, Greg and Tim illustrated the first of a series of Lord of the Rings calendars for Ballantine Books. In 1977, Lucas Film hired the Brothers Hildebrandt to create the movie poster for the first Star Wars film,Star Wars: A New Hope.

In 1981, they pursued separate careers. During the ’80s

Greg’s art appeared on covers for Omni and Heavy Metal. The Franklin Mint and Lenox issued his work on collector’s plates, figurines, dolls and swords. In l984, Greg illustrated Mary

Stewart’s Merlin trilogy, and he has illustrated 15 classics, including: The Wizard of OZ, Aladdin, Robin Hood, Dracula and Phantom of the Opera. When commenting on Greg's work the New York Times said, “Fortunate the child or adult who receives a gift of the classics richly illustrated by Greg Hildebrandt.”

After 12 years apart, the Brothers reunited in 1993. They worked on Marvel posters, pre-production art for Stan Lee and Michael Uslan, producer of the Batman films, a King Tut book, the 1994 Marvel Masterpieces card set, X-Men and Spiderman card sets, Terry & The Pirates comic strip and an X-Men 2099 painted bookshelf edition. In 1999, Greg began to paint a life-long dream. He created his 'American Beauties' series of retro pinup art. There are presently 90 amazing paintings in this series, and Greg says the possibilities of what to paint next are endless!

GSCF is proud to welcome Billy Tucci to Garden State Comic Fest July 25-26th at the Mennen Arena in Morristown NJ

Working from a one-bedroom apartment in 1994, Billy self-published the phenomenally successful comic property Shi. At times outselling Batman and Superman, over 4 million Shi comics have been sold worldwide, along with a vast array of related merchandise. Shi is an industry superstar that has additionally produced many blockbuster cross-over projects with some of the most well know Marvel and independent characters including Daredevil, Witchblade, Vampirella and Wolverine of X-Men fame. Shi’s success inspired Tucci to create and publish numerous Shi offshoots and properties such as Victoria Cross, Angle Fire, Undaunted, Battlebooks and Atomik ANGELS (with Peter Gutierrez).

Tucci has done work for all the major publishing companies over the years and also produced a six-part miniseries for DC in 2008, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion. Describing the series, as a "labor of love", Tucci spent time at a large reenactment with over 2,000 World War II reenactors in Pennsylvania as part of his research for the story. In the reenactment, Tucci acted out the part of a war correspondent, interviewed several veterans of the campaign, and visited the grounds where battles took place.

As partner of Apostle Arts LLC, Tucci created Billy Tucci's a Child is Born, a 32 page graphic novella about the birth of Jesus, for Christmas 2011

Billy is also one of the few comic book creators recognized by Wizard Magazine on both their top ten artists and writers lists.

GSCF is proud to welcome Mark McKenna to Garden State Comic Fest July 25-26th at the Mennen Arena in Morristown NJ.

Mark McKenna is a 29 year veteran of the comic book industry. In that time he has worked on Batman, Wolverine, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and more recently on Star Wars, counting over 500 comics in all.

A graduate of The School of Visual Arts in 1982, his first credited published works was in a a toy tie-in comic called Sectaurs(#4) in the same year with spot credits here and there. It wasn’t until he brought his Marvel samples to DC in late 1986 and serendipitously met DC group editor Karen Berger that his life took a major change. A day after Mrs. Berger had seen his samples, she called Mark and offered him a new ongoing title, Dr. Fate, complete with a year’s contract, bonus and full benefits package.

Mark's more recent work can be seen in Legendary Picture Books PACIFIC RIM movie prequel, Dark Horse Comics Star Wars-The Old Republic: The Lost Suns. In 2012 his work on the online web comic titled “Star Wars: Blood of the Empire“ was collected into an 84 page trade paperback and was the lynchpin for the 2012 released Bio-ware online video game, The Old Republic.

His children’s book series Banana Tail and Friends is a labor of love that he created when his daughter was four and had a newborn son. His most recent Banana Tail project, The BOOnana Tail Halloween Special was released for Halloween of this year and was treated as an “all ages” comic project that continues to grow with children that had the original storybooks read to them as younger children.

Mark has also created, written, inked and published the Sci Fi/Horror COMBAT JACKS comic book. COMBAT JACKS #2... “Return To Earth” ships next Summer and features legendary martial arts film actress Cynthia Rothrock as the head of a kick- space marine squad…battling…YUP! Alien Jack O‘ Lanterns!
