I recently received 2 submissions back after several months.  I want to document some issues with the 1st submission in this post, and then I'll do a post for the 2nd submission.  The 1st submission had 25 books, 8 books will be returned in an ME.  There was no QC seal on the invoice.

Amazing Spider-Man 36:  2" square Newton Rings in center of front and back cover.  Also Red Debris Back Bottom Right.

Im reviewing the books again and about 75% of them have this issue.....

You can always email them. I had one that spanned the entire right side of the slab and they said it was in the margin of error or some BS like that.

My second submission had 23 books and 23 books will be returned as mechanical error.  All 23 books have significant newton rings in the front center of the slabs.  19 have significant newton rings in the back center.  There are some other issues...  The encapsulator must be really gifted.  There was no QC seal on the invoice.

Amazing Spider-Man 70:  1" debris front corner (upper left in image) and 2 1/2" x 2" newtons front and back (not photographed).

I’m starting to feel like Newton rings are starting to be the best outcome when receiving books back.

I'm sorry to hear that eight of your 25 books will have to be returned for mechanical errors, but I have to wonder why there was no QC seal on the invoice.

@CGC Mike looks like someone has fiddled with the mechanical error on the website.  I can no longer fill it out as it won't let me change my country (locked to USA).  I think this was brought up a week or so ago as well.  Emailed CS with the details as well but figured you fix more things then everyone else so get on it :p:baiting:

Can you send me the cert number of the book(s) so we can do a test?

With Blackstone’s support, CCG has already invested tens of millions of dollars to develop state-of-the-art AI capabilities, best-in-class operations, a new internal technology system and more. Our customers are already starting to see significant benefits from these investments. We cleared our backlogs in trading and sports cards early in 2022, and we have nearly cleared our extensive backlog in comic books. Our Customer Service, a weak point during our worst periods of backlog, now scores above industry metrics. We also launched expert and impartial grading services for video games, with a holder that is widely regarded as the best in the industry. And of course, our very first vertical that started it all, coins, continues to be a major focus for us and will remain so.

CCG continues to reach new heights. We have now graded more than 75 million collectibles — with more than 10 million being graded in 2022 alone. It’s been amazing to witness this growth, and I am excited to see what our team will accomplish in 2023 and beyond.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our clients and particularly my hard-working colleagues. It has been my pleasure to get to know so many of you over the years and see how your passion and support have made this company and our hobbies so much better. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mark Salzberg Signature

Maybe I'm totally off the mark, but the blurb about AI and "new internal technology system" and the increase in QC complaint issues piqued my curiosity knowing a lot of industries are looking at AI to try to cut corners on basic QA/QC functions....

This is was web help told me.

Thank you for that information. On the page where the customer selects how to ship, they must click Ship on my own (see screenshot). This will allow them to change the country. Unfortunately, internationally customers cannot use the Prepay FedEx option. The customer will need to reach out to customer service to obtain a free international mechanical error shipping label.

Anyone know what these spots are on the edge of the slab?  They can only seen head on, they don’t show up from side angles, about half of the 100 slabs I just got back have this going on.

My last four Modern submissions had these on over 50% of the books.  But the majority also had a crack visible from the side.

Definitely a recent issue.  I received an Econ sub after all these Moderns and none of them had this issue.

But still completely unacceptable..

it was slabbed in 2009

the bonus piece of plastic either happened in the following years or has well passed any statute of limitations for responsible reporting … the case looks cracked in the upper corners  (likely where the shard originates from)

Many of mine also have that little cracking, I coudlnt tell if it was just the bubbles/whatever it is I am seeing from the front, or an actual crack inside.  It doesnt feel like anything from the outside.

https://boards.cgccomics.com/profile/104376-cgc-mike/ @CGC Mike Not sure if I added the link to Mike correctly.

I just received Thor #127 back from CGC: Grade 7.0. The grader's note indicate (1) Light cover tanning (2) Light creasing to cover (3) Moderate spine stress lines to cover (4) Moderate staining to cover

Here are the items I found: (5) Pulled staples (6) Ripped back page (7) Stain, indent, and wear on back cover

Please advise on how to proceed.
