A hypothetical question about losing an auction

I don't bother with sniping and go ahead and put in my best bid early

Aw, what fun is that?

The real downside is waiting days for an auction to end with money tied up in it when I could be bidding on other stuff, but I try not to obsess over it. I hate losing by a dollar but I know if my bid had been ten dollars more I still might not have won

So you are upset that a fellow employee prevented you from doing something non job related on your bosses dime? That the gist of it?

Buddy I hear you because I have to deal with difficult employees alot my self. Folks with lists of excuses that they feel they had nothing to do with putting themselves in that circumstance.( Not my fault I was late; Why? Because I lost my phone?)(Couldn't call out because I forgot your#?) (Broke a hand truck by overloading it ; Why because it didn't say it could hold 2 tons of lumber. Next time use the pallet jack) I have heard those all.

You probably just want to be a good boss or supervisor. People can go on and on and often there is nothing you can do to make them happy. Obviously you cannot fire them for ticking you off.

Hindsight is 20/20 but if you are lucky enough and have the authority, to be able to bid at your job then the thing to do was just say come back in few minutes.

I guess you could try to get them to buy you the books outright at this point. lol

BTW you better not have been bidding against me. I ll fire you! :baiting:lol

ya'know, the real evidence that you are all sick and obsessed is that he stated he has over 2 dozen copies of one of the books in question and this went unchallenged or even commented upon until now.

TWO DOZEN COPIES! PIF THOSE BAD BOYS! :makepoint:

Don't be bringing common sense and reason into this.

Yes yes...I realize I'm griping about someone else griping caused me to lose something I didn't need. (One of the comics I have over 2 dozen copies of, and the other I have too many of and in much better condition).

This has just been a tough week of people not taking responsibility for things an expecting me to handle them, and this was a straw on the camel's back.

Does anyone else in here not give a flying monkey's behind about this guy grabbing himself at work, and missing out on hoard books?

I wouldn't reccommend blocking any kind of real round kick with a forearm

If you really wanted the books, I would have put in a high bid going into the last few minutes, just in case. If you didn't really want the books but just wanted to snipe a couple on the cheap, maybe it wasn't meant to be. Maybe the books had SCS or would have shipped with a cracked slab or some other aggravating situation. There are so many auctions and available product nowadays you will surely get another chance.

Agreed. I've failed to get several internet bids in on time due to technical glitches. You also don't know what the high bidder's max was; you may not have won the items. You may have just bid someone else up.

(Note: You didn't "lose" an auction, just like nobody "wins" an auction. If you're the high bidder, you have to pay for the items. Don't fall for the auction industry's marketing gimmicks.)

I only Facebook, Instagram, IM, and email while at work. And sometimes my car forum. And very rarely my comics forums.

And sometimes eBay if I'm already buying or selling something before I go in to work lol

Little do you know, your employee sniped all your books as he was distracting you from your bids.
