It's pasted onto a scrapbook page so I can't see the back side of it. It's called "Turning the Tables". That's not Poor Lil Mose is it? Cartoon is about the size of a comic book. The copyright on this is 1901 from the New York Herald. Here's mine front and back. Sqeggs, pmpknface and Mmehdy

gadzukes
Here's an interesting find I just made..... In early Pep comics there's a story called "Danny in Wonderland" Danny's sidekick is a character named "Kuppie" (short for Kupcake) who looks suspiciously like the Yellow Kid. Definitely a rip off of the character. No writing on his nightgown though. Edited April 26, 2020 by gadzukes waaaghboss

It looks like the character appears possibly in all the "Danny in Wonderland" stories. I wonder if CGC needs to make a note on the labels of all these Pep comics? The character even appears in PEP 22 (1st Archie) I love discovering stuff like this. Edited April 26, 2020 by gadzukes

I've found some cool YK stuff through the years but always let it go (sometimes it shocked me at how much it sold for). I now wish I had kept it all. BTW... what's the definition of a "tear sheet"? Is that a Sunday strip? In addition to Yellow Kid's great website, I have a pinback website that documents many examples from the Yellow Kid tobacco pinback set. This is one of my favorite pinback series, and it took me 20+ years to complete the set. Outcault's artwork is truly special, and I love collecting everything related to his work. Yah, recently read pep 22 on the golden reading room, and got a kick out of Archie hating being called Archie, and insisting he go by his nickname Chick. Just threw me for a fun loop. gadzukes
I pulled this out to look at it today (man it's in good shape). And then as I stared at it I started laughing.... I've never seen the original Life in person, looks like newsprint that was pretty fragile. Is it a comedy or farce magazine mostly? Many years ago I saw some of the Yellow Kid postcards at a flea market. Always regretted not picking them up. If you want to learn more about some of Outcault's contemporaries; I'd recommend reading the book KRAZY about Herriman. Mmehdy
Popular Post Ameri
Actually, those early Life were published on high quality glossy paper and still supple. Typical political farce and news of the day with a sarcastic spin. Don't some of the buttons have an "easel back" that allows them to be stood up for display? I thought that I read that somewhere, but I'm not sure exactly what an easel-back would look like.
