I got to wondering afterwards ... seeing as I haven't really read Spider-man in about 3 decades, I have no idea whether the movie holds true to the comics. I know who Miles Morales is, and I know Gwen is from an alternate universe ... but that's about the extent of my knowledge on those characters. So did the movie follow the comic (whichever that comic is, I don't know)? There is a spider-verse crossover. It introduced spider-gwen. Nothing at all like the movie, except it was an excuse to have a million different spider people (but it's a fun read IMO)

paperheart
after they cut the mike on the guy accepting the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, you can lip read him: "this is ok, but if we had gone direct to video, i could've gotten a free lifetime membership to Blockbuster." #RT29rules

Bosco685
Broke $360M worldwide yesterday. I wonder if this will be a more massive Home Market candidate? Though with the early digital sales there is no consolidated tracking. ComicConnoisseur

ExNihilo
I finally watched it last night. I mean, I've got nothing really new to add since it seems everyone enjoyed it. All I can say is that it feels like the most "comic book-y" movie I've ever seen. Like, I can easily see it starting life as a mini-series (though, it sounds like a completely original story). 6 issue mini's generally have these cliffhangers that close out the last page of each book, and I got the same kind of beats/pacing with Into the Spider-verse. Overall, very well done. And astonishing the quality of talent they're able to cast.
Bosco685
I think this is the Amazon limited edition lenticular cover version of the bluray. A really sharp touch, to me. Edited March 20, 2019 by Bosco685

Callaway29
The other studios sure seem to be figuring things out lately, each with their own style. Was only a matter of time I suppose. Some cross-pollination may be contributing as well. Bosco685 and ComicConnoisseur 1
