still have your MC 1 and Tec 27 ?

No to MC 1 but yes to the Tec #27. They’re a couple states away from me in Washington with family with some other nice things. If I ever sell I’ll post them here for sure but until then I leave them alone other than getting advice from a boardie here on proper insurance.

I'm 58...but I feel like I'm 20 except I'm in bed at 10

Ditto. Started collecting in 1973 at age 10. I’ve stayed in shape so not really feeling much age related problems. Still run, walk dogs, hit the weights at times and party much less. I know people years younger who are wrecks. Doctor told me years ago if you’re still good by 50 things should go well but if not…:whatthe:

If you ever decide to part with the TEC #27, my DM’s are open. Consider it a donation if you will. :x

Let's put it this way.  Put my current mind/mindset back in my 20-year-old self....and I'd be swimming in money now.  With collectibles and with a successful business or 2.

My advice to 20-year-olds is....keep your eyes open for and go for business opportunities....and try to predict what collectible items are underrated now but will be desirable in the future.  And don't listen to the current standard advice.

Well I’m 66 and I want to salute my elders

I started cutting out Marvel V stamps off the news stands so that's in 1974 with Hulk 181. I already had mommy send for my stamp book. I did buy books before that at 20 cents so right around 1972 i started.

I was reading a post on Taxing books. I have no record on what I paid for my nice books and the Restoration price i paid plus the fact that i traded early on 300 worth of little books to get a 100 book. I went to SF cons with my dad i did buy batman 1 that my dad bought me and it took years to pay back. I bought a copy of Detective 27 from E. Gerber himself back in the early 80's had it restored paid for safe box when i moved out of moms house that cost around 100 a year for years so how do i pay tax on a book that's worth 150k now that i had stored graded drove to Reno spent night there lost money than got my book and drove home ? Drove to get Restored lost a day pay to pick up on and on. I have to pay Tax to sell after i paid Tax to get book. I guess i have to keep collecting.

Fixed that for you based on today’s prices. My first copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 was $25.00 for a VF++ copy and my first Marvel Comics #1 and Detective comics #27 took some time payments but were in the single K’s range still for nice copies. Add to that all your high priced bronze books today like Hulk #181 were bought off the newsstand for cover price and I still have pages of original art by the likes of Kirby that cost 5 or 10 dollars in some cases for a page. Still actively buying since the comics field is large and you never seem to get enough dupes on some stuff but I’d think twice collecting from the ground up today. Very happy to causally add stuff and enjoy the likes of everyone here for their posts and comments which so far are free…:nyah:

hope you hung onto all those treasures .......

Except for Mitch, youngsters all, I believe. Of course, youth doesn’t mean lack of wisdom, nor does age equal a surfeit of same. I have well and truly entered into my eight decade, but still love all of it; silver age and older. Only regret would be that I just couldn’t get myself to pay more than Guide for all those books with Mac Raboy and Lou Fine covers in the seventies and eighties. Sigh. Great fun watching you all talking about funny books.

Awesome !!! welcome here young man ............
