Picked these up from my local comic shop tonight from a collection they got in. Not sure what the High Sierra Collection is, but pretty cool to find in the wild and they’re really nice.

- Crime Clinic #10 (1951) Norman Saunders painted cover

- Official True Crime Cases Comics #24 (1947) 1st issue, picks up from Sub-Mariner Comics #23, Syd Shores cover

- Authentic Police Cases #1 (1948) Hale the Magician Begins/Bondage cover, Paul Parker cover

Nice find! I haven’t seen any of those in years. From a large collection that Redbeard picked up of all pre-code books in the early 1980’s I believe. Came out of Nevada. I believe I still have a few of those.

Don’t know where your store is, but they are probably all scattered everywhere by now.

"High Sierra" was a joke.  Ron was tired of dealers creating a pedigree every time a collection of books was found, so he invented "HS" and gave certs out for anything that had been in his private reserve stock.

Ha, that is correct. The sands of time and hanging around guys like Ron and Johnny Knight, have "hazed" my memories...:roflmao:

Oh that's pretty funny then. The books are certainly no joke, beautiful copies, but didn't know about the collection so that's funny.

They were only given out for his reserve stock, which were always select copies and often from legit pedigrees.
