Excellent show. Old school. Plenty of NYC-area dealers, good prices and deals to be had. Chapeaux to Mike Carbonaro for keeping this event going at a great location with good dealers at a reasonable entrance fee -- and the cosplayers kept to a minimum.

This is maybe the 6th time I've gone to this show (last 3 years in a row), and the number of buyers crowding in front of dealer booths was more noticeable than ever before. Lots and lots of people buying. All sorts of stuff moving. For every older guy like me, one or two younger buyers. The activity in front of each dealer booth looked like people crowding around a bar to order drinks during happy hour. The state of the hobby as of right now is quite good.

Bought a 1st Appearance of Terry McGuiness in Batman Beyond 1

Bought something minor through Metropolis but will pick it up this week.

Bought a Spider-man 1 Blank that I never had sketched.

Bought one of the China knock off Lego minifigures - Bought a Punisher... I felt that Lego will never make this character into a Lego figure so I may as well buy the Chinese custom.

Dropped off 8 modern books to CGC

As far as the show itself... it was an odd mix. There were a few noticeable absences. I can see why Storms is not going to set up for a show like this. There is no need to bring your inventory to this show if you are a local guy when most of the people that show up are locals. Richie Munchin was a noticeable absence.

The artist that I felt got screwed over has been a constant in the NY scene and he was not there. That is a shame.

The thing that made me laugh the most was Steranko. He had a sign that said he would take commissions for basically anything EXCEPT Deadpool.

The most puzzling thing was that right next to the comics table was a business advertising Ukrainian Brides. No really...

One of the dealers had a major MAJOR book stolen from them. I was there when they discovered that. I am not naming it as I am going to guess the police are probably going to be involved on that one.

As far as the local NYC metro shows that I have seen pop up in the last few years I rank this as #3.

1 - NYCC (Obviously)

2 - the one at the piers in June

3 - NYCBM

4 - Eternal Con in Uniondale.

I enjoy this show over NYCC hands down. So accessible, so little drama to enter and exit, cheaper, essentially no cosplayers blocking aisles. Bottom line, you can do so many deals and do submissions at CGC in basically half a day -- and you still have half a day left. Yep, Reece, Storms and Gator not there, but I see them at Megacon anyway. Richie is being more selective these days on his show schedule as he is now doing more of his own personal "conference room" cons (like the one tomorrow in Boca, which I might drive to).

I do like the Reed special edition show in June very much.

This is a book I have bid on whenever I had seen one, but never lucky enough to land one. It caught me like a mean left hook on Terry's Comics wall. It was my only purchase at the show. It's on it's way to CGC in the morning via Susan Cicconi. :wishluck: I too sold a lot more than I bought. $7200 in and $1150 for the Casper. Out of Dodge by 2:30. Oh and a few Sterenko CGC SS on a pair of Foom Magazines. Fun event, got to meet and revisit some friends. Buzzetta is even cooler in person. CAK was on another planet, I'm thinking hung over. lol.

Ha! Good meeting you too. Congrats on the Casper. I was impressed with Terry's Comics and will be paying closer attention to his books at future shows. He had a few things I have been looking for but was interested in finding copies in a little higher grades on the books that had my interest.

I know that CAK got there late as he was not there when all the other dealers had already set up and I too got the 'hung over' vibe. He did not seem to be too enthused with the "gift" I presented him with either.

Great show from the prospective of selling merchandise. Of course Funko products were the biggest seller but had a solid mix of other products being sold as well. Already made my deposit for next year, March 4, 2017!
