I have hundreds of those bad boys.  The issues with Pussycat in them are after most of the Nazi torture books which makes them a little easier to find.  Still tough though, took me 4 or 5 years and I'm sure I'm still missing a few.  Just haven't had a chance to go back through and check things off.

As I'm sure you know, there are several of the later issues that are actually reprints of earlier issues.

They were reprinted in some cases many times, but there are 66 original Pussycat tales that were published between 1965 and August 1972, mostly in the titles Male, Men and Stag Annual. Anything after that date is for sure a reprint.

Yes, that looks like my list (I think you and another board member compiled it and I just copied and pasted it into a document).  (thumbsu

So, what about Boba Fett? Marvel Super Special #16 predates Star Wars #42 by about 6 months yet people seem to focus on the SW #42. Isn't SW #42 simply a reprint of MSS #16?

I think the current best guess is the paperback is actually first, based on the non-standard Yoda design.  Then the Treasury and the Super Special in some order, then the SW 42.  And all of that assumes you don't consider UK books.

Marvel Super Special #16 is the earliest slabbable US comic appearance of Boba Fett.

Never mind the Rocky Raccoon of Beatles fame appearance, it’s that spectacular Satana cover that is the real awesomeness of this issue!

Is this the only other mag with a Satana cover?  I think so but not positive...

and 1st Yoda and Lando. It's also low census pop in 9.6 and above yet little collector desire and SW42 commands whole lot more $  :(

Self-submitted, a $2.00 late 1990's purchase. I was nicked on a tiny amount of color loss on back cover. Honesty the few 9.8's I've seen of this are significantly less nice looking but with me CGC played hardball.   Book is sharp, flat and NOT pressed with deep color.

I think there is a better case to be made for a movie adaptation in comparison to fan club mags (FOOM) or promotional publications (Marvel Age). But, all things being unequal, an appearance in a running title with stories continued or external from the original material is just far more attractive IMO.

Technically the first appearance but collectors vote with the pocket book.

Actually, the first appearances were not Marvel Super Special 16, they were in the Marvel paperback edition of Empire Strikes Back which came out before MSS 16. Of course, most collectors want Star Wars 42 instead.

CGC won't grade the paperback, won't grade the treasury.  So the Super Special 16 becomes the next best thing.

I think Boba being on the cover of 42 pushes it as the big money book, even though it came out months after SS16.

I like SS16 and still think it's undervalued.  However the spec crowd enjoys milking several books (41 - first Yoda, 42 - first Boba, 43 - first Lando etc...) because more money can be had.
