I had the pleasure of finding one copy this past year. You have to figure the print run for that was next to nothing 

 

Over the years I found maybe a dozen of the sealed marvel cd of this book but only one newsstsnd sealed.

I actually found about five other sealed #158 CD packs along w this one, but I already had found so much good stuff at this one booth, so I only took the lone newsstand

Interesting that dealer got probably a complete order from a shop. I wonder how they came across the newsstand.

I'm pretty sure the bagged version was fairly standard at the shops upon release.  Most people prob opened them. 

Now, newsstand.  That's something else. 

I'll check my collection.  If I have it, that's where it was purchased.

A lot of people had given up on the title at this point.  So many variants, Dynamic Forces, and crazy creative teams prior.  

Honestly started enjoying a bit more toward the end, but it was too late for book.

Well, both of these posts inspired me to look at a box of late Wolverines . . . no #158 to contribute, but I did indeed come across a few Newsstands:

Any Wolvie from 100 is difficult to find and in high grade like that one. 
Get past 150 and it really gets more difficult. After around 175 they are just
plain scarce.

I was buying Wolvy from the same newsstand from about 145-172

Theres a few sweet copies in there...

Yes and I read that entire storyline at the time I loved Tieri's work until the Alpha flight storyline. Then after
that it went downhill.

Just went and grabbed my shortbox from that store.  Apparently I have a few above 175....

I decided I wanted to go back to my roots, and exclusively bought new books from my local variety store.  It was fun to go in every week and grab the new books.  There were a few other random titles every once in a while, but they basically carried PPSS, ASM, X-men & Wolverine.

I stopped collecting new stuff when the store closed down.

I picked up 4 copies of ASM 36 from that store.  I remember going in and grabbing that weeks haul.  I got home and opened up the 36.  Went back to the store and grabbed the rest.  I gave one away, and submitted the other 3

2 9.6s & a 9.8 ( long gone unfortunately)

The structural grades overall are a little hit and miss, as the copies were always at the mercy of the store owners before I rescued them. 
 

The most complete run is PPSS

9-48 including the annuals ( just missing 29 for some reason )

A few more newsstands for my collection. Of this group, the New Avengers #27 has proven the hardest to find. I think I've seen it once or twice before but at prohibitively high prices. The Hulk is one that I've wanted for a couple years but this is the first I've seen for sale. The Catwomans are yet another attempt to put together a full run of the series in newsstand. Unfortunately, I have had a very hard time putting this set together. To date, I've never seen a newsstand edition for about half the run. Of particular interest are Catwoman #1 and #3, both of which I've never seen in newsstand. For now, I am missing #1,3,18, and 40-81. I have seen a couple of the later Adam Hughes covers as newsstands but they tend to be very pricey. 

As far as this thread is concerned, I nominate Catwoman #1 newsstand as a book that is almost impossible to find in the wild.

Id like to find a Catwoman 51 newsstand. I can't even find one on ebay to even look at.
