[Pike's Comics]

So a little about myself:

- Based out of Tampa/Clearwater

- I have owned a Comic shop.

 

First Comic book series read: Xmen right around the Hellfire club first appeared.

 

-Most expensive comic owned: Brave and the Bold 28 5.5

 

-Favorite book ever owned: Giant Size X-men 1 9.4

 

-Most copies of one key comic: 13 copies FF 52

 

- Most Comics owned: ~450 long boxes

- Currently own: ~275 long boxes

 

2017 Goals

-Set up at at least 6 major conventions within 8-10hr driving distance.

-Start submitting to auction sites such as Comic connect, my Comic Shop, ect. Want a 4-5x turn rate with 30-40% margins.

-Increase quality of inventory.

-Become more organized.

My current convention setup:

- Four booths (400sf)

-88 Long boxes $2 books. Sorted alphabetically.

-33 boxes of priced books. Sorted into following categories: Modern, Bronze/Silver, Blanks and Key/First appearances.

-16Lf of graphic Novels or Miscellaneous stuff

- Wall books (CGC and raw key issues)

 

- I usually bring 4-8 boxes to restock.

2016 Conventions:

Megacon Tampa: This is the shows last chance to prove the new owners can run a show where vendors can make a profit. Megacon thus year was a nightmare.

 

2017 Conventions:

1.Megacon May 25-28. This matters on how well the show goes this weekend.

2. Heroes Convention June 16-18

3. Tampa Bay Comic Con June 28-30

4. Soda Pop City Con Aug 26-27

-Daytona Beach Comic Con. Great mid sized one day show tun by Tom Raupp.

Just one large booth. Takes 3-5 people to run the booth mattering on how busy the show is.

 

I will upload my setup later but it is usually like this

Edit: Well that didn't work. So guess I will describe it.

 

Up front I have 3 rows of 8". 2 of them back to back. One of the outer rows will either another 8ft set next to it followed by a 4ft or a 4ft gap depending on if I have a booth behind me or not.

 

The other two rows stop and have a gap. I then use three 8ft tables to circle my wall in the back of the setup. Opening on side for people to enter the booth area.
