The 25th James Bond movie is going to be a big deal but after Spectre disappointed (following Skyfall was always going to be tough), excitement for this installment isn't exactly at an all-time high right now.

Regardless, it's happening and we now know that James Bond 25 will be released in US theaters on November 8th, 2019. It will reach the UK and the rest of the world earlier than that but probably only by a week or two. It's also been confirmed that Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will once again be teaming up to tell Bond's latest adventure.

Longtime producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are also back so, behind the scenes, very little has changed. What we don't know is who will direct but that's unlikely to be Sam Mendes.

Daniel Craig Is Coming Back as James Bond in 2019

Quote

Sound the trumpets: Daniel Craig will play James Bond in at least one more film, which will be released in November 2019.

Eon Productions, the London-based company that oversees all things 007, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which holds rights to the franchise, said on Monday that the next installment would arrive in theaters in North America on Nov. 8, 2019. That will put moviedom’s most famous spy in direct competition with a live-action fairy tale from Walt Disney Studios. (Disney claimed the date last year but has not yet disclosed the specific movie.)

Eon and MGM also said that the ---script would be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who have teamed up on the screenplays for the last six Bond installments, starting with “The World Is Not Enough” in 1999. The next Bond movie — the 25th in the series, if you include “Never Say Never Again” from 1983, which was made by an outside production company — will be produced by Eon’s Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Should be his last film that will. That give Theo James enough time to be the appropriate age when they make the 26th film to take over. Funny thing is 2015 had too many spy films.

This writing team has been involved in some very poor Bond movies, namely the last 3 and the last 2 Brosnan ones.

Casino Royale is the only shining light in Craig's Bond career, Spectre started off so well and after the song credits I turned off.

The whole thing needs to go away for 10 years and be rebooted if at all.

...and Skyfall.  I'll fight anybody that disagrees on that:makepoint:

But didn't Daniel Craig say he was sick of being James Bond and went on a tirade about how he's only doing it for the money and wishes the franchise would crumble???

Quote taken from Screenrant article:

Quote

Already, Craig has delivered some unbelievably honest responses when grilled by press about returning for another Bond film (something he’s contractually obligated to do – at least for now). When interviewed by Time Out earlier this month, Craig said he would rather “slash his wrists” than imagine doing another Bond film.

Here is how the call went:

"You can't buy me with one armored car full of Benjamins..........................oh, you meant two? I guess I have to say yes then!" lol

Or

"I cannot be bought and will not do it again for $25 million......................oh, you are offering me $50 million, RDJ/Iron Man money? I guess I can do one more film."

Craig is the best. Went through a stack of Bond' films on DVD over the summer. IMO, some of the early Connery films themselves haven't aged well (styles, gimmicks, effects), though he himself as Bond is classic. Roger Moore I used to like when he took over, but oh geez they're horrible now, and I guess always were. Pierce Brosnan I could never stand and still can't, he's down there fighting with Moore for the worst series of Bond actors in the franchise. I purposely excluded Timothy Dalton because I'd have to carve my eyes out if I ever saw any his movies ever. So even at his worst, Craig's Bond beats 95% of the rest of the non-Connery Bonds and he holds up the standard pretty well along with Connery.

lol funny 'cause it so true.  I'm glad he decided to make another movie because I do like his James Bond.

I'm also really hoping that this will be his last one.  As suggested by Chris Hemsworth, the next 007 should be a woman.  Specifically Charlize Theron.  Her new movie "Atomic Blonde" should go a long way in deciding if this is feasible/economical.

In the original books 008 was a woman and the highest number mentioned was 0011.

And 006 was -- next to Bond -- the biggest bad-. Something that Goldeneye played on perfectly. Those of us who'd read the books were keeping track and having him turn traitor was a brilliant twist.

I too will defend Skyfall. Easily the best Bond film since Goldfinger.

Top 5:

Goldfinger

Skyfall

From Russia With Love

Casino Royale

Goldeneye

I hope not, James Bond should be a man.  A British man.  You want a woman, fine, create a new 00 number.  Besides, I want Charlize back in her own spin-off from Mad Max.

James Bond will always be a man.  Unless he gets a sex changelol.

But the "00" is a designation.  It's never specified that it has to be a man or a woman (or specific nationality).

Ok you're playing that game knowing what I meant.  007 is James Bond and there should never be a deviation from that.  No Jane or Jamie Bond taking over that role or number.  Just create a new role for a female character.

lol yes, yes, I know what you meant.  I completely agree.  I think that goes in line with the thinking of Iron Man being Tony Stark, Hulk being Bruce Banner, etc., etc., etc.

JAMES BOND 25 Director Shortlist Reportedly Includes BLADE RUNNER 2049 Helmer Denis Villenueve

152867.jpg

Quote

According to Deadline, the Bond 25 director shortlist has been narrowed down to three: Yann Demange, Denis Villeneuve, and David MacKenzie.

Demange directed 2014's ’71 starring Jack O’Connell, while Mackenzie helmed recent Best Picture nominee Hell or High Water. Villeneuve, meanwhile, should need no introduction 'round these parts, as he's generally regarded as one of the best filmmakers working today.

Though it hasn't been officially confirmed just yet, Daniel Craig is expected to reprise the role of 007 for the still untitled Bond 25, which currently has a release date of November 8th, 2019.

I like Daniel Craig as Bond, but the movies are just remade Jason Bournes IMO.  Brosnan would've been perfect had they been able to get him when they wanted, and not made really long commercials as movies.  Dalton's movies were differently terrible, but terrible all the same.

It is a crying shame that they couldn't keep Connery for On Her Majesty's Secret Service instead of Lazenby, because that would've been the highest quality of Bond film.

IMO though, Thunderball is the ultimate expression of the James Bond movie.

Great List! Just watched From Russia With Love for the first time ever. What a great movie. Even though I liked Goldeneye, I would bump it off the top five for The Spy Who Loved Me.

Diamonds Are Forever was one of the worst Bond movies ever,as it didn't age well with that 70s cheesiness.

My favorite as a child -- and the first one I ever saw -- was The Spy Who Loved Me. But as an adult it's not even in my top six.

And agreed -- On Her Majesty's Secret Service had arguably the best story this side of Skyfall. But it gets lost because it starred Lazenby rather than Connery.

Still, it has Telly Savalas and Diana Rigg.

Most importantly, it's the only film (and book) other than (perhaps) Casino Royale where Bond loses in the end.
