Phoebe Waller-Bridge is quickly becoming a person to watch out for. The creative is known for starring in, writing, and executive producing the series Fleabag as well as writing and executive producing the hit Sandra Oh-led series, Killing Eve. However, many people will probably recognize her best as the voice of L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Waller-Bridge isn’t slowing down anytime soon as it was just reported by Variety that she’s been hired to “polish” the Bond 25 -script.

“A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the British writer was indeed taking a pass through the -script and that director Cary Fukunaga was fully aware of the decision. The source said production remained on track to begin at the end of April,” Variety reports.

Apparently, Waller-Bridge is joining the project at the direct request of its star, Daniel Crag, who felt the -script needed a dose of humor. “The Emmy- and BAFTA-nominated writer is known for her offbeat, caustic humor and strong characterization,” Variety explains.

How do you announce a film without a title? I hate the whole press news thing these days and how lame it comes off. It's probably a bad sign for this final Daniel Craig Bond movie that they are still debating titles or having a hard time coming up with one. However the Bond series is rebooted after Daniel Craig will be the thing to watch. In the future, I bet Daniel Craig's movies will be seen a kind of a miss like Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies. Sure Daniel Craig is in Casino Royale and it's a great movie. But the movies afterwards, even though profitable, they all feel that they need to have Bond references to make you think, yes I am watching a Bond movie. Spectre was Daniel Craig's true Bond movie but it's so messy with the story it's hard to believe the people behind the movie are professional writers and producers.

If the producers behind the Bond series let someone like Nolan do a few Bond movies, I bet we'll see something very close to those great Connery Bond movies. If not, we will keep getting movies that seem all over the place like the recent ones with perhaps one or two good ones out of a bunch of average to bad movies.

I think Craig's tenure as Bond will be seen as a necessary evolution -- particularly after the abject cheese of the Brosnan era.

The fact is the horrible invisible car / CGI wind-surfing / Madonna / laser / face & race - swapping Die Another Day was one of the worst Bond films out there, and laid the series bare as a cartoon that was rendered instantly obsolete when The Bourne Identity was released.

I'd also argue that Craig's tenure has produced two stone cold classics (so far): Casino Royale and Skyfall.

Skyfall was easily a Top 5 Bond film -- and may be Top 3 (after From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service -- I go back and forth on whether it's better than Goldfinger).

And for reference - I've read all the Fleming books and short stories, 90% of the John Gardner ones, and half of Raymond Benson's.

It sounds like they were close to wrapping it up, too.

Craig was shooting one of his final scenes in Jamaica. “He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly,” the source said. “He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.”

Production on Bond 25 in Jamaica came to an abrupt halt this week after star Daniel Craig, likely in his last film as the iconic secret agent, hurt his ankle during a take. He was taken up to the United States for X-rays and shooting was quickly suspended. Fortunately, it looks as though everyone's worst fears won't be coming true, as Craig's injury isn't nearly as serious as initially thought.

A new report from The Sun (the paper that broke the news of Craig's injury in the first place) states that the 007 star will be returning to the set "within the week." According to a source close to the production, the injury won't keep Craig from filming going forward, but they will take precautions to ensure he doesn't aggravate the ankle.

"Things were deemed to be a disaster at first," the source told The Sun. "But the injury is not as severe as believed, and he will be able to film while not over-exerting his ankle. He will be back on set within the week."

You know it was the producers that decided to make Pierce Brosnan almost a clown in Die Another Day without having to wear the clown suit from Octopussy. I think Timothy Dalton will one day be seen as ahead of his time. I think On Her Majesty's Secret Service took a while to catch on as well. I heard Martin Scorsese mention the movie once as one to check out in the series and being different. Also because of the strength of Roger Moore's humorous Bond, Pierce Brosnan was always a middle ground between Connery and Moore. His movies have too many action scenes and not enough time spent on the spying and locations. The Bourne movies gave the producers the excuse they needed to try another Bond actor even though they should have been taking that risk from the beginning.

I really don't like Skyfall. I watched it completely once. I still don't understand what they were trying to do in Skyfall. Making Bond seem too old for the job, having conflict with M once again and very similar to what happened at the beginning of Die Another Day, plus no real Bond girl. I get that a lot of people like it because it's not really the Bond formula. But still Skyfall and Die Another Day are the two Bond movies where I didn't get excited about the idea of ever watching them again. Same goes for Quantum of Solace. I love Casino Royale though. But I don't think anything modern is as good as the old Bond movies. I would put The Living Daylights in a top 5 list before any modern Bond movie, which would be starting with the Brosnan ones.

I've read all the Fleming, Gardner, and Benson books too. I need to read the newer books and comic releases one day. I might start with the Dynamite published Casino Royale if it's on sale during Memorial Day. I have some of the old comic stories too. One that was pretty good with I think Mike Grell artwork. He drew Bond like an actor that I think influenced Fleming.

That is what I wish would happen. That they producers would say, this is what Bond is supposed to look like and keep it consistent. Of course we wouldn't have the Roger Moore movies and I actually like some of those. Nor Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. But we wouldn't get all the nonsense and bad stuff popping up about who will be the next Bond actor either. Then they could make like 5 or 6 movies with one actor. And renew the series after those movies or keep in consistent with a different but similar looking actor. And keep some of Bond's character traits. Like in The World is not Enough, they were supposedly debating whether Bond should ski or snowboard. I think that's why we got those stupid surfboard scenes in Die Another Day. If they were really thinking Bond would have surfaced in a fake alligator or some new type of animal. And at least Roger Moore had to come up with that crazy stuff in A View to a Kill. But Bond should always ski. He should always drive a British car. Stuff like that.
