Rented this on iTunes today. Third favorite after Casino and Skyfall. I’m good with the ending as well. I know I said I wasn’t paying $20 for a rental since I’m buying it anyway but its Bond. Great finale and end to Craigs era.

I'm going to go a third time next week. I get a little obsessed with a film once in a while, and this is one of them. With some films, I find there's something going on that is out of the ordinary. Something imperceptible that stays with you. Difficult to put into words, but a sort of mood. I like the mood of this film, and the more I dwell on it the more I like it. Odd really, isn't it, Oddball.

There is definitely a reason why No Time To Die has surpassed Avengers: Endgame at the UK box office: repeat viewings.

James Bond thanks you.

Not odd at all. There are certain films that have a tone that stick with you. This is a first for a James Bond movie as well. I may change my third place ranking of it to tie with second upon further consideration. I have a lot to say about this movie but will wait until another viewing. I can say that it definitely did not feel like its run time. This felt like an hour and a half to me. Main gripe was we didn’t get to see Craig involved in some slick mano a mano / hand to hand combat. I know it’s become a cliche for Bond (well, any action movie) but even the weakest entry Quantum had some spectacular fight scenes.

I couldn't see it earlier but plan on watching it this weekend.  Really looking forward to watching this.

Hope you like it. The opening scenes which lead us into the theme are stunning, I think. And I like the theme song much more now - it compliments the mood perfectly as the effect of the apparent betrayal slowly sinks in. Look out for the look on Craig's face in the car while he's processing it, as the bullets hammer alarmingly into the rapidly failing glass. Brilliant.

No, I still fundamentally disagree with it and can't shake the sense of injustice.

Rewatched this tonight... the deep injustice for madeleine still resounded within me . Beautiful film but hated that Bond became a tragedy.

Tragedy is a good way of putting it. Living and dying by the sword is one thing, but we get enough of that in the real world. In the world of pretend, where you have a choice, give them what they deserve. This isn't Get Carter. It's Bond, and there is a template. The channelling of deep emotions of personal and collective injustice as a finale belongs elsewhere. For me, it's an unforgiveable misstep. Up until that point, it was beautiful. I would so much have preferred to come away with a sense of justice. You did all this for us. You lost so much along the way. And normally, you'd expect to go yourself and follow Felix into that great espionage cloud in the sky. That's the life. But get this, you escape. You find the happiness that has eluded you all your life. You fill that void. And you escape. We'd all be sad that we won't see him again of course, but happy that he found happiness. Lasting happiness, after the tragedy of Vesper. Five films with various degrees of excellence, but with one towering presence at the heart. I didn't want my enduring sense to be one of injustice for that character, his friends, colleagues and loved ones.

I'll shut up now.
