Just me and the old girls in the cinema for my third trip this afternoon. Smaller screen but still managed to sit where others were not. I love this film. Third viewing and there isn't one scene that doesn't hold the attention. You know my views on the ending if you've followed this thread, and they haven't changed, but this is one of those films that has left its mark on me. It's brilliant.

I think I was in line with you as my immediate reaction of the finale but I had considered it for a bit and thought that this Bond deserved something different than every other Bond movie ever made. Now it is set apart. Ok, and right in the middle of this post, I have changed my mind again and wish they hadn’t gone with that ending and instead went with a white knuckle alternative. Nah, I’m good with the ending. Or am I?

I've been pondering myself whether the ending is the reason it is resonating.

I think its the sum of all its parts. A very even lean film. Paired with the quintessential Bond villain and fantastic locales. Even the forest still resonates with me. There are some things that were done in spectacular fashion and a few scenes I really had an issue with. But all in all, a wonderful finale to Craigs run.

MGM/Eon/Universal’s No Time To Die is crossing $733M worldwide this weekend, making it the highest grossing Hollywood film of 2021 — and of the pandemic era. After topping $708M through last Sunday, and becoming the biggest Hollywood movie overseas in 2021 and throughout the pandemic, we’ve been expecting Mr Bond to overtake the previous global leader, Universal’s own F9 ($725M WW cume and the only other studio movie to cross $700M this year). In total to date, Daniel Craig’s last turn as 007 has an estimated gross of $154M domestic and $579M at the international box office.

The Cary Joji Fukunaga-directed 25th Bond installment initially released in late September in most overseas markets; it then added North America, China and Australia in later weeks. On October 20, it became Hollywood’s No. 2 movie of 2021 globally and continued to hit new benchmarks, crossing $700M last weekend. Overall throughout its run, it scored the biggest pandemic opening weekend in 36 markets.

It still has to go backwards to top Shang-Chi. Eon Productions is going to try its best!

I didn’t think it had the legs to beat F9. So good to see a film of substance at the top of the list. Whats even more surprising is that its nearly 3 hours long so fewer showings in the theater.

I think it was absolutely fantastic. I'm glad I avoided 12 pages of this thread until I saw it.

I loved the way his decision making at the end was unflinching.

It was the same reaction I get from Tom Clancy novels, and it's about the real kind of heroes that I find easy to admire.

I'm reminded of him sitting in that chair, nude, in Casino Royale.

He turns around, despite knowing what it means, and does what he needs to do.

I liked this one better than Skyfall. The running time, with an admitted nice intermission on my sweet 4K 65" screen, flew by.

I don't have high hopes for the next stage of "James Bond will return", remotely being as enjoyable as 3 of these 5 films were for me.

Exactly. And that's exactly why I thought it so wrong, so unjust that he loses his life. Fictional character aside, he deserved to live. I wanted him to live.

Did you watch until the very end of the credits? Did you?
