I think the best approach would be that of a fallen hero - humble beginnings, threat to his people so he is imbued with power, saves them at great cost, and is haunted by the price he has to pay so becomes an anti-hero/villain. Just like wrestling - start small, become big star/good guy, fall and become heel, then redemption and the cycle plays all over. They need to have him be a sympathetic anti-hero/villain, and the Rock knows how to play that role.

Cyclone is currently being cast and is the newest addition to the upcoming DC Comics’ adaptation of Black Adam for Warner Bros.

With the production start date for Black Adam merely months away, the antihero origin story should be shaping up its cast soon. Dwayne Johnson has long been signed on to play the DC Comics supervillain, but few other details have been dropped in the last year and fans are antsy to learn more.

The Rock himself managed to assuage some curiosity by revealing to Screen Rant that the Justice Society of America would be introduced in the film, confirming the report from Murphy’s Multiverse about appearances from Hawkman, Stargirl, Atom Smasher and and now Hawkgirl.

But now there comes a new twist in the Black Adam saga, and it seems that Cyclone is about to blow her way into the heart of the upcoming DC Comics endeavor. The Illuminerdi recently learned that a casting call has gone out for Cyclone as the lead female of the film, and her description points to her being every bit the cheerful and bubbly ball of joy that fans know her as.

But how does that make her a fit for Black Adam, considering that it’s meant to be an origin story for the corrupted ancient Egyptian? Well, given the presence of the older and also ancient Hawkman, it sounds like the film might show a passing of the torch from the old guard of the JSA to the new. Perhaps the Hawks have been battling Teth-Adam since his hostile takeover of Kahndaq (as depicted in Geoff Johns’ “Black Reign” arc) while the younger generation like Atom Smasher and Cyclone are just getting their feet wet.

Speaking of Atom Smasher: he is often depicted as a love interest for Stargirl, which is why it makes sense for them both to appear in Black Adam. But as of our latest intel, he is being described as a love interest for Cyclone. Either this means a tangled love triangle, made more tragic by the fact that Stargirl is one of Maxine’s heroes, or it suggests that Maxine is replacing the star-spangled superheroine as the movie’s female lead.

DC is notoriously wary about allowing more than one version of a character to exist in live-action at any given time, so that’s an unfortunate possibility. It’s a miracle TV Flash and movie Flash ever met, and one wonders if that would ever have come to pass had the latter’s solo film not been delayed so long. Courtney Whitmore coming to the CW’s Stargirl only months before she appears in Black Adam may be too much for the multiverse to handle, in the minds of executives anyway.

The Illuminerdi has put our eyes on an updated casting call for the upcoming DCEU film, Black Adam. Previously, through an exclusive look at the -script, we confirmed that Doctor Fate would appear in the film. Doctor Fate’s appearance in the film had previously been reported by Geeks Worldwide writer Emre Kaya.

THE NEW SEARCH FOR DOCTOR FATE AND ISIS

Those reports called for a 30-40 year old male to play a supporting role as the sorcerer. That casting call surfaced last December. The updated information which we’ve been privy to now describes the character as, a Master Of The Mystic Arts and ageless, to be played by a 40-50 year old male. Additionally, Doctor Fate’s casting describes this as a strong supporting role.

The inclusion of the Justice Society of America means that Black Adam will be something of an ensemble film. Certain characters just aren’t going to receive as much screen time as others, and it’s a blessing to discover that Dr. Fate will be a supporting player. In theory, the character has the potential to become the DCEU’s answer to Doctor Strange and possibly just as popular as well if he’s fleshed out properly.

As exciting as that is, Doctor Fate wasn’t the only character on the casting call. Adrianna Tomaz, a character we previously examined in our analysis of the -script, was featured. While we previously assumed that her character would eventually become her superhuman alter-ego, the Egyptian goddess Isis, the information we had only referred to her as Adrianna. This new casting call specifically states that Adrianna Tomaz will eventually become Isis by name.

In the source material, Dr. Fate is an extremely powerful sorcerer, and one of the strongest magical beings in the DC universe. The mantle has been held by a number of characters, and it’s unclear which version will appear in Black Adam at this time. The most popular version of the character is Kent Nelson, who is also a founding member of the Justice Society Of America.

Jaume Collet-Serra will be in the director's seat for the New Line and DC feature.

Noah Centineo, who broke out with To All The Boys I've Loved Before, is joining Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam, New Line's Shazam! spinoff based on the popular DC antihero.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Johnson in Disney's forthcoming The Jungle Cruise, will be in the director's chair when the feature project goes before cameras, although with the pandemic the timing is unclear. Johnson's longtime collaborator, Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo., is producing along with Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions.

While storyline details are being kept in the dark, Black Adam focuses on the DC character that was originally created as the archnemesis for the hero now known as Shazam. In modern times, however, the character has evolved into a more complex and conflicted antihero, rising to become one of DC's more prominent characters. His origins are tied to ancient Egypt and his powers are supernatural in nature. Adam Sztykiel wrote the current -script for what will be Johnson's first superhero role.
