I think the overall quality of Charlton's output went downhill around 1966/7 myself - certainly in terms of what I like personally - but some of the romance titles happily buck that trend. I love this cover for example:

She's just adorable, isn't she :luhv:

Interesting to see the progression from Silver to Bronze in that title - separated by a mere 15 years and yet seemingly worlds apart:

                    Volume 1, #22, November 1961                                         Volume 8, #112, August 1976

@Crimebuster - as OP, do we have your blessing to extend into bronze here? :foryou:

Sure! Bronze is my favorite romance era. I think things start changing a little earlier with romance than some other genres anyway - I see Bronze elements creeping in by 1967. So there's a lot of overlap in eras.

Good man :)

Not sure if I've posted this one before, in the middle of the two eras - note the two left feet...

Welp, had this in my watch list for a couple months, I like the cover and it was the best looking copy to roll around. I almost pulled the trigger on it...

Then this copy came along.

Glad I held out, I think I’ll like it better.

Are there good, we’ll written stories in these books or is it just about the art?

Is that well-written stories? Dunno. Does anyone read the stories? You can't go wrong with D'Agostino's artwork on the covers or interiors. Many of these CGC Forum  threads celebrate just the cover artwork. That is all you see if your books are slabbed anyway. The most exciting thing for @Get Marwood & I is that LM 6d top right. Other people get excited by Margie's thigh in the second image (the stamped arrival date).

You'd have a better chance of catching a glimpse of Bigfoot in your backyard then Sweethearts 122.

Ever since this came up in this thread, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Sweethearts 122. Wouldn't you know it, one came up for sale right here on the boards last week when I wasn't around. :flamed:

Luckily for me, nobody bought it :whatthe:  so when the boardie eventually put it up on ebay, i got a notification, and bought it immediately.
