Holy heck this is good!

 

Genuinely surprised non-Brits understand the hat-tips to 1960's England, plus the alt-universe stuff.

Bit of Lock, Stock meets V for Vendetta meets Children of Men.

Yes - but so much more if you are English or a big fan of UK 60's movie +/- music.

 

An example:

Alfie (Pennyworth) lives in Micklewhite Lane.

Alfie was a film that (along with Zulu) set up the legendary career of Michael Caine.

PS: If you look in the 'long shoots' of scenes in Micklewhite lane, you see a pub (not the one shown in close up or inside shots) - it's where the 1st Kingsmen was filmed

 

There are literally 100's of hat-tips to the UK in the 1960's. From Peg Sykes image in early S1 to a notorious UK killer - the reporter in the rally looking and wearing clothes imortalized by the 1st supermodel - Twiggy - and heaps more.

If you get them - even more fun - on it's own, still a very good series so far

 

Only blot was that Crowley stuff.

 

Solid 8/10 so far (half way through season 2)

 

Do not expect anything even remotely connected to the Batman though (except a few characters names) - at least not so far.

They went full zany, and had fun with it. I had a good time with it.

The actors playing Wayne and Kane were so bad it was like they dialed it in.

 

Martha Kane especially. God she was awful.

Because I enjoyed it doesn't mean I watched a different show. I was probably more reasonable with my expectations.
