Nice little bit of trivia!

That 176-180 set was a great read - thanks for the suggestion!  I definitely did not realize what the twist was going to be at the end of 179... I do miss storytelling like that. :)

Here's my set that just came today...

Does this cherished Ross Andru run from my youth need a club? hm

Yes.

:cloud9:

Definitely!
All Andru's work does. My first Spidey had been ASM #160, but it’s not just for that! :whee:

Tarantula… Man-Wolf… Goblin… :cloud9:

Nostalgia aside, he’s always been a very solid penciler. Objectively.

Although I remember my older brother buying issues 145. 148, and two copies of 150, ASM #153 was when i started my monthly purchasing of the title, that lasted right through to issue 604 or so.  33 years plus of fun times.

Ok, this one is a little tougher.  Who can name where this Ross Andru drawn Spider-Man and ape (not drawn by Ross) appeared?  You have to be specific.

I have no idea, but that scan makes me think of animation cels...

"Spidey meets the blowhard" 1975. That's the end of the story where he goes out with Paul the gorilla to get a new cake after Paul throws the cake in blowhard's face.

Thought you were gonna stump me on that one huh?! Nothin doin bub!

Exactly correct.  I did think this one would last a little longer than it did.  Congrats.  Did you notice where the Spidey Image first appeared?

No it wasn't that particular sketch. I saw the cut & paste job on that old comic strip style panel & remembered right away it was from those old electric company videos in the 70's. I used to watch those way back when YouTube was kind of new. Wonder why they didn't let Spidey talk & just gave him comment bubbles??? Anyway that's a good one though!

Can't post for awhile here since I'm at work but just wanted to get back to you real quick

I was actually looking for some Ross Andru pics of his work on Electric Company Magazine (Issue 40, 48, 50) but could not find any on the internet.  I did click through several of the Electric Company Videos (which I also remember watching in elementary school).  I knew the picture of Spidey and the Ape was drawn by Andru, but had no idea how to prove it.  I just happened to be looking through my Essential Spider-Man #7 the other night, and noticed it was from ASM #143.

So if anyone has any scans of the Electric Company Magazine Ross Andru art, would love to see it.

Pretty sure this is from the 176-180 run that I just read... can't remember exactly which issue... not 176 though... 177?

No, actually this is from ASM #136, where Harry has just blown up Peter's hopping bachelor pad, as MJ tries to open the door for Mr. Parker.

Yup it's 136 but it's when Peter is having the flashback at Mary Jane's hospital bed after the explosion.

Here's a couple more panels from 137. I'm pretty sure you already know which of the three 💣 was the real one ...

Those Andru art pieces seem to be scrubbed from the internet or something? Infact it's tough to find anything from electric company magazine other than just the covers. That stuff is really obscure! If you dig deep enough on Google you can find some Buscema stuff from electric company but nothing from Andru.

I've never seen any of those that are directly from "electric company magazine" and not from more familiar "Spidey super stories" comic book which is also from electric company. Have you checked if any of those EC magazines are on sale anywhere?
