Popular Post Joel0109
Bought this off of Comiclink last night. An original owner copy. Cost me about $1,800.00. I was debating on whether to spend that much money but I have always wanted this book and it looks fantastic for a 9.6. It looks far better than the 9.8 (really bad and ugly wrap) that went for nearly $5,000.00. The story isn’t what I would call “gripping” but it is some very dark Simpson’s stuff. Pretty cool onlyweaknesskryptonite

There was a time I was searching for a within-my-range DD #1, but besides a coverless I saw on eBay (which I probably should've bought and just matched a cover-only later), I never found one. Congratulations on that one! On 5/8/2024 at 11:31 AM, batmiesta said: Got these beauty's from wor Greg. Beauties, indeed! Classic comic magazines like these are underrated, in my opinion. On 5/8/2024 at 11:35 AM, Browns81 said: Slim pickings at HPB today. Sort of. They had a pretty good early Punisher run but all priced at $3 each. Nothing drives me crazier than random overpricing on these non-key runs. Yeah, HPB is all over the place with pricing. It's awesome when you find the underpriced stuff, but the overpriced are aggravating because those books will sit for eons clogging their special cases. Popular Post BuraddoRun
This is more like this month in my collection: Pics 1-3. I picked these up at a couple of shops on FCBD, taking advantage of sales. That X-Men is Finnish, I believe. The clerk at the shop didn't even know they had it, but I found it in one of their bins. Voltron wasn't on sale, but I wanted it so I bought it anyway. 4-5. Some random HPB finds, including another comic-in-paperback format, this time the X-Men. Black and white interiors with 1-3 panels per page, reprinting a few classic stories. Can you believe I've never read The Dark Knight Returns? Well, now I plan to! And I've read Days of Future Past, long ago, but I re-read it after picking this up (it's newsstand, for what it's worth). That Ororo is another single issue library binding hardcover edition. 6-11. I went on a trip to Ft. Worth for work and found a true, family-owned, non-corporate used bookstore a block away from my hotel. There was a sign on the door that said, "Leave backpacks at the front desk. We'll return them on the way out. No exceptions!" As soon as I walked in, I tried to hand my bag to the owner of the shop at the desk right inside, and he told me, "I don't want that." I replied, "Your sign says 'no exceptions.'" He responded, "my brother put that up." So anyway, the shop was somewhat organized, but not especially so, so it was an adventure to walk around and dig in the nooks and crannies of the place. I did find some actual comic books, but they were all 90's stuff in Poor to Good (at best) condition with $1 stickers stuck to the covers. Nothing valuable anyway, so I passed on those. There were a few graphic novels, but nothing I was interested in. He did have a lot of random old books, stuff on coin collecting, history, old brochures and travel stuff, and really just lots of random books, you know? I wanted to buy something, so I settled on a hardcover book of cartoons with a 1935 publish date. Ebay has it for about what I paid, so I don't count it as a valuable score $$-wise, but I still think it's cool. These cartoons are so old, though; some of the humor goes over my head. LOL! Anyway, thankfully he accepted credit card payments, but he gave e a handwritten receipt! Fun times. The store's been open since the 60's, apparently. I'm glad places like this still exist in the world. Cocomonkey, Browns81, Larryw7 and 4 others
