I've been touting the affordability of coverless keys for years, especially for TOS39 due to the EPIC first page (the best of all SA keys, including AF15), but this is some next level stuff (just ended tonight on clink)

For context, this copy ended 1 minute after another low grade TOS39 in the same auction:

i tried to sell my CGC 5.0 blue label copy here on the boards almost exactly a year ago for $9,250 if memory serves. i got several lowball offers and finally one person claimed it within a few hours.

incredible the difference a year makes. boy that was a mistake.

Sold out of necessity or thought it was a good opportunity?

neither really. wanted some cash, i had two copies so could spare it. didnt think the book would do much for awhile since the iron man films are done for now. the one lesson i repeatedly get hit over the head with is 'never sell keys unless it's to buy other keys.'

That's a mantra I can follow.

Not the prettiest copy, but seems like a bargain given recent prices.

The photos actually didn't do it justice. I inquired about it and shipping costs to Canada and the seller sent me some much clearer pics, however before we could talk further it was bought outright (note the listing says the 'best offer' was accepted, however when I viewed it live there was no such offer and it was just fixed priced, so I imagine it went for something very close to the full amount as I would have been happy to offer him anywhere from $1400-$1700 right off the bat)

I paid $230 for my complete, off-white/white coverless copy just a few years back, so I'm quite happy I got it when I did based on these price escalations. I had been buying complete coverless Silver-Age keys on the cheap for about the past 8 years, but I think everybody else is starting to catch on!

The only splash I know of that has a hero coming forth from a, ahem, birth canal

I never really cared for this book.  Back when I was deep into collecting Silver Age keys, this book (along with TTA 27 & ST 110) we’re always at the bottom of my list to acquire.

flash forward 30 years and nothing has really changed my mind.  Sure, Robert Downey Jr did a wonderful job portraying Tony Stark in the Marvel cinematic universe, but it doesn’t change my lack of interest in this book
