However to try and make Larson a franchise was a stretch to far, there is nothing likeable about her at all. China box office seems to like him

Gatsby77
"Warner Bros.' # 5 top-grossing film post-Covid?" What's next? 6th highest-grossing film released on the 51st Friday of a non-leap year? This might be significant, if it meant it were: a) close to profitable; or b) this were actually a thing. For reference, Aquaman 2 is currently running ~$50 million behind the the # 4 Warner Bros. film (Godzilla v. Kong) ~$150 million behind the # 3 Warner Bros. film (Wonka) ~$1.0 billion behind the # 1 Warner Bros. film (Barbie) I like pie, Beige, paperheart and 1 other
Bosco685
$52.6M from Ant-Man 3, which is shocking in itself based on the early predictions how low Aquaman 2 would land. Edited February 4 by Bosco685

Bosco685
If anything it looks like it is the Domestic market that bailed on this film. As 71.5% of Aquaman 2 comes from the International Box Office.
Bosco685
It finally broke $430M worldwide. But then again, some predicted $200M (+/-).
Hulksdaddy1
I watched it the other night. Not good, but entertaining enough. Glad I didn't see it in theaters.

Good point on your part noting that.
kimik
Wow. I can't believe Meg 2 The Trench did better. That movie was utter trash. I was so happy I resisted the urge to see it in the theatres.
Gatsby77
I can understand The Meg 2's outperformance, but who would have predicted that Ryan Reynolds' Free Guy would outperform Aquaman 2 in China by nearly 50%?
Bosco685
The 2023 comic book films made for an interesting shift. To include Aquaman trailing Ant-Man 3 by only $42.8M when the latter was the 31st MCU film and a build-up to the next big Marvel villain - Kang the Conqueror. While Gunn made it clear Aquaman 2 had nothing to do with any future DCU development. Or some can pretend Aquaman 2 had everything going for it. Including no DCU CEO tampering to avoid conflicts with future roadmap announcements. Edited February 20 by Bosco685
Bosco685
Quote The Lost Kingdom is now inside of your home, as “Aquaman 2” swims to streaming on Feb. 27. The Jason Momoa-led superhero sequel will be available to watch on Max just two months after it debuted in theaters over the Christmas holiday. “Aquaman 2” is directed by James Wan, who produced alongside Peter Safran and Rob Cowan. Executive producers include Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the screenplay.
