I haven't seen this one mentioned yet.  I don't know if it belongs on the list as I believe the 2nd print is only available in newsstand.

I only have a Canadian price variant handy for comparison, that one has a black stripe, the 2nd print has no stripe.  The ads are completely different inside and out, back cover on the Canadian is for TSR, on the 2nd print it's for Acclaim Wrestle Mania.  Additionally the first page of the letters is replaced by and ad.

This one isn't technically the same, since this book (and a couple more like it....maybe Batman #416? Can't remember off the top of my head) was never actually distributed through the newsstand distribution system. It's just a case of someone forgetting to change out the UPC with direct box art/lettering.

Yes, there at least a few examples like this. The Superman 12 pack reprint originally came in the 3-packs that were sold in Kay-Bee toys, Costco, K-mart, etc. These packs were made around the height of the comic book boom in the early 1990s.  My theory is that the printing company eventually got away from putting the bar code on these subsequent printings because it would show thru the plastic of the pack, and thus could be accidentally scanned by the clerk instead of using the real price tag. For example, in the case of the 3rd printings of Batman 414, 415, and 416, someone placed a DC bullet sticker over the bar code to keep it covered up.

Examples that are similar to the Superman 12 pack reprint with bar code on cover above are 2nd printings of Batman 414, 415 and 416.

That was the problem that Marvel had with Whitman back in the late 70s. You'd think someone would have paid attention and learned from history.

I seem to have found another newsstand second printing and would like all of your opinions on it. Even though it’s an Archie this seems like the right thread for it. I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie newsstand second print Canadian variant. I have held this identical cdn variant newsstand copy in my hands before as a first print, so we can rule out anyone’s possible assumptions that all the cdn copies were 2nd prints. Also it appears all the ads for the 2nd printing are identical to the ads in the first printing. I have to date also not found a direct copy or USA newsstand copy 2nd printing, although I would “assume” they would also exist. TMNT adventures books are full of 2nd-5th printings as well as the direct AND newsstand cdn variants so a 2nd printing of a newsstand probably shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. Can anyone who has a copy of this book in whatever version confirm any other 2nd printing copies. Any info or thoughts would be appreciated.

I can not speak specifically about the Canadian,  However a quick search on Ebay pulls up more copies of the 2nd print Newsstand than its direct counterpart,

Which leads me to believe this falls along the lines of comics more like the Valiant 2nd + print Newsstands( example being Legend of Zelda)where they were Newsstand

 or X Factor 71 2nd Gold were also all Newsstand. 

Making these commonplace unlike 4 of the aforementioned books on the list. Another Example, but was released with an action figure Spiderman 2099 1 White which was also only a Newsstand,  but was limited .

Some of the most likely candidates for these would be books close to the dates of the few known.

Robin 1 date 1/91

Although many of us , myself included have been searching for a lot of the potentials and have yet to find one. Still cant help but look though. 

Most of them during this time were switching over to the Gold for second print and the Spider-Man 1 just keeps a lot of us looking.

Several possible issues have already been brought up , again though none have yet been found to have the Newsstand 2nd print.

Here is a mostly comprehensive list of DC and Marvel comics from the correct time frame (1989-1993) that all had 2nd or later printings yet not one Newsstand 2nd+ . Although I did leave off a few of the Giveaway and Promotional 2nd prints (examples were J.C. Penny 2nds, etc)

That quick search of turtle newsstands on eBay you just used as an example...where in the listing does it say that they are 2nd printings?

Having a bar code instead of other markings does not necessarily make a comic a Newsstand edition.

Ok. Looking back I am incorrect on these specifically.  I was quickly scrolling and scanning. I was looking at the cover for quick identification.  Which with DC / Marvel is usually a logo color difference,  Roman numerals,  or price box color change/ I'd. These are seem to be more like the multi pack editions where the main identification is only on the indica page. Which unfortunately almost none of Ebay users actually upload any pictures of this page. (Nor do they denote printing unless big $ difference in doing so) I hope that you have in fact found another Rare 2nd print Newsstand. I do not have any copies of this issue to confirm or deny . Hopefully more here will be able to better shed light on this specific issue.

I do understand that can be the case. Many moderns have barcodes , but are direct editions. Just the same there were no barcodes before the advent of the direct market. Although it is typically that style of barcode that is used for Newsstand editions and considering upon further search there are some copies without any barcode (can not tell if 1st or 2nd printing) it still seems as though this was distributed through both channels. 

I also must apologize for my misuse of the term. Like too many, I have become to leisure with the term when it comes to the barcode.   The Spiderman 2099 is a good example as it came in a toy pack and sure they added the barcode as a throwback.  Not that it was specific to actual newsstands, which the same probably goes for the valiants, and x factor as I am not sure of the exact distribution methods for those. I was using the term as they only have the barcode editions. Thank you for pointing out my error in terminology as this may only serve to confuse others.
