Bosco685 Posted May 2, 2019 Share Posted May 2, 2019 (edited) Quote Marvel Television surprised viewers earlier this morning by announcing they had two shows picked up by Hulu — one featuring Gabriel Luna's Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider and another featuring Daimon and "Ana" Hellstrom in Helstrom. While that's pretty exciting in and of itself, there's one line in the official Marvel release that could point to something larger on the horizon. To open things off, Marvel exclaims to readers that "the Spirits of Vengeance are coming," an interesting point of view when only one Ghost Rider is involved. You see the name is always associated with a Ghost Rider, no matter if it was Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, or Robbie Reyes. Most recently, however, Spirits of Vengeance was actually a mini-series at Marvel Comics featuring, you guessed it, Ghost Rider, the Hellstrom siblings, and none other than the Daywalker himself, Erick Brooks/Blade. If any other character besides Blade was the final spot of the quartet, we'd probably brush Marvel's tease off really quick. Blade, however, is a character that is someone fans have been begging to see resurrected on-screen as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Wesley Snipes' trilogy helped launch the modern comic book movie industry as we know it. When Marvel Television's deal with Netflix collapsed last year, the production company was suddenly without half a dozen shows they had previously been actively developing. Now down show numbers substantially, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb and company certainly have the firepower to bring on a few more live-action shows, so why not a Blade series? With a new partner in Hulu, Marvel hasn't been afraid to say they'll be pushing the boundaries with darker, adult-oriented programming. Comic fans will recognize Robbie Reyes' origins as some of the most disturbing content in the comics mythos while the Hellstrom siblings are the offspring of a demon, so the vampire-hunting Blade would feel right at home. And just imagine, the shows could eventually lead to a Defenders-esque tie-in at some point down the line. Spirits of Vengeance or Midnight Sons, anyone? Marvel's partnership with Hulu has taken a more supernatural turn as of late, with solo Ghost Rider and Hellstrom series recently being announced by the popular streaming service. Citing a "reliable source," MCU Cosmic claims that the character Blade could be joining the proverbial monster mash alongside numerous other horror-centric Marvel characters. That being said, it is not made clear whether Blade would be getting is own series or if he would simply be appearing in one of the other shows. Naturally, nothing has been officially announced by Marvel or Hulu as of yet, so this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, especially seeing as how rumors regarding Blade's MCU debut have surfaced before. However, it should be noted that MCU Cosmic previously reported that Marvel had recently filed a new trademark for "Spirits of Vengeance," the name of a supernatural team from the comic books that features Ghost Rider (albeit not to same one who will star on Hulu), the Hellstrom siblings and, yes, Blade. Marvel's partnership with Hulu kicked off in late 2017 with the premiere of Runaways, which was recently renewed for a third season. Prior to announcing the Ghost Rider and Hellstrom shows, the streaming giant also unveiled a lineup of upcoming adult-oriented animated series that includes Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Tigra & Dazzler and Hit-Monkey. The studio skipped the entire convention in 2018 in order to keep the surprises of Avengers: Endgame under wraps. This time around Marvel is back in business, and the panel certainly delivered on the hype surrounding it. In addition to the announcements that fans expected, Kevin Feige and Marvel shocked the world with a major surprise. Marvel Studios is bringing another Blade movie to life, and it already has a star. Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali is playing the titular vampire hunter. This announcement came along with the confirmations of movies that everyone knew would be on the way at some point. Black Widow, The Eternals, and Shang-Chi were all-but guaranteed, seeing as how they were all involved with production or pre-production in one way or another.
