Anyone ever noticed this misprint in Spawn #1?

Just a statement of fact? (shrug)

If you think I was trying to insult you, then you are way off the mark with your assumption.

Even if we worked with 1 million (way below the actual figure) as number, then someone could examine 5,000 copies before finding one.

I didn't.

I get what you're saying.

Well over a million of those were printed, so even 500 is a very small fraction of what's out there.

Probably too much math, but if we could select a random 500 books from a 1,000,000 print run, then determine what percentage of them had the misprint just within the 500 sample, we could be 99% confident that the whole 1,000,000 had the same percentage of misprint +/- 6%.

If 500 random had 20% misprint, then the 1,000,000 would be 14% to 26%.

If 500 random had 50% misprint, then the 1,000,000 would be 44% to 56%.

Etc.

How to get 500 truly random copies, though, is tougher.  Most possible ways to check 500 copies include multiples/duplicates from the same geography or even the same distributor box.

I also have two, and I bought mine when they first were printed. They should go for more money because they are rare. Todd Mc Farlane mentioned on a YouTube video that it was a mistake in the printing process they had to recall and stop the presses to fix the error, I had to check my books after that.

Went through a stack of about 20 copies of Spawn 1 getting ready for the Atlanta comic con coming up next month, and noticed on the inside front cover of one that the Spawn logo is all jacked up. I just figured some dumbo took a marker to it. Then I went through the rest and found 5 more identical to it. It's not marker, it was printed this way. I'd imagine it's common due to 25% of this little stack, but it's something I've never noticed before.  Anyone else seen/have one?

My copy has this also.  I thought it was marker as well.  Who knew?  (shrug)

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I never knew of this defect until today, which I discovered watching ComicTom101. I just checked my two copies, which both display the printing error. I either purchased them in Jacksonville, NC or Rochester, MN back in 1992 at LCSs.

I don't think this warrants a price difference per se, but I don't see any reason why these wouldn't be separately collectible for someone who was into a specialist collection of Spawn. It's certainly a title that allows for deep dives into weirdness (see also the Spawn newsstand thread).

Speaking of which, I'm rather curious if the broken logo appears exclusively on DM copies or if there are also newsstand copies with this error.

The newsstand copies have the 'clean' icon (without the blotches)

Fixed. :baiting:

Seriously, I've never seen that, but I believe the only copy of Spawn 1 I've ever opened is the one in my PC.

Now THAT's funny. :drumroll:
