Long runs of nice Charlton War books.... 0

Up today, something pretty unusual and cool – a large, nicer grade set of Charlton War books from the late 1960s-late 1970s.

These books all came from one collection, and while I can’t be certain they were purchased by the one owner, they appear to be fairly uniform in grade.

Speaking of grade, these are largely structurally VF. However, the terrible initial production quality of Charlton books is well known. All of these books are flat and tight, but you tend not see a lot of gloss, and page quality is generally offwhite to cream. If page quality falls below that range, I’ll call it out. Otherwise, that’s OW/CRM is the general vibe on these. Many of the earlier books have some tanning along the bottom edge. All that said, these present really nicely.

Some wonderful interior artwork here (Glanzman, Ditko...) and many surprisingly great covers. In all my years of collecting war books, I have never only seen these come up in nice shape in long runs once (and I grabbed them). So here’s a good chance to get long runs in nicer shape than these tend to appear in.
